UK pressing of the 2007 sophomore effort by Maroon 5 includes two bonus tracks: 'Until You're Over Me and 'Infatuation'. Global neo-soul rock superstars, Maroon 5 are back with their much-anticipated sophomore album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long. The follow-up to the 10 times platinum, Grammy award-winning Songs About Jane will be sexier and stronger, according to frontman Adam Levine, who looked to 80s icons such as Prince, Michael Jackson and Talking Heads for inspiration. Recorded at home in Los Angeles with producers Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Eminem), Mark Spike Stent (Bjork, Keane, Gwen Stefani), Mark Endert (Madonna, Fiona Apple), and Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Nickel Creek) the album promises to be a louder take on the pop sounds of their first effort. デビューアルバム『Songs About Jane』が世界中で大ヒットを記録したMaroon 5、待望の2ndアルバム。先行トラックの『Makes Me Wonder』はBillboardで初の首位を獲得。人気の加熱ぶりが伺えます。

Maroon 5の魅力とは、強力なビートとキャッチーなメロディー、レトロなサウンド、そしてヴォーカルAdam Levineの透明感あふれるハスキーヴォイスでしょう。本作でもそのMaroon 5クオリティは健在。ただ、純粋にアダルトコンテンポラリーロックというカテゴリーでくくれないほど、R&Bやファンクミュージックの要素を取り入れた、ボーダーレスな音楽形態に進化しています。

『If I Never See Your Face Again』『Makes Me Wonder』といったグルーヴィーなアッパーチューンで始まる序盤は、エレクトリックなビートが効いたものから、シンプルなロックまで、80'sサウンドを彷彿とさせつつ、斬新なアレンジが施された作風が目立ちます。これぞ彼らの進境地ですが、彼らのイメージ自体からは大きく外れていないため、違和感なく聴けます。後半からラストにかけては穏やかな作品がメイン。Adamの、Chris Martin(Coldplay)やPhill Collinsにも似た、高音部分が絶妙な歌声を堪能できます。ピアノをベースに展開されるバラード『Better That We Brake』では、自ずとDaniel Powterを連想させます。

前作の流れを踏んだ上で、それとは一味違った、“踊れるロックサウンド”が魅力の本作。期待を裏切らない完成度です。

もとより芸暦の長い人たちですし、
すでにバンドのグルーブががっちりと固まっているので極端な話、普通なメロでも満足が約束されるバンドなのだが、そんな野暮なことしないのが彼らww
メロはとことん磨き上げ、グルーブも職人的に無駄を排する「何も足さない、何も引かない製法」でまろやか。
前作がよかったなら今作もどうぞと言える作品だと思います。

ということで、上質なモルトをどうぞ( ^ ^)

待望の新作！いきなり懐かしいディスコチックなリズムで始まります。
前作のようなつくりを期待していた人にはちょっと違ったイメージなので、「あれっ？」と感じるかもしれません。
しかし、相変わらずアレンジも歌声も素晴らしく、飽きさせない構成になっています。
ディスコチックな曲でもちゃんとMAROON５らしさが出ていて、決してファンの期待を裏切らないつくりだと思います。
彼らの音楽はジャンルに当てはめることができないくらい多様性があり、今作でまた広がりを見せたような気がします。
