自動でトミカが流れるタイプの「トミカワールド」3作目がこの「すいすいETCドライブ」。特徴はなんと言っても、自動で一般レーンとETCレーンを振り分けてくれるところ。10数台のトミカを一斉に流してみると・・・あら不思議、ちゃんとETCレーンを通過するトミカと一般レーンで列を作って待機しているトミカに見事分離されました。メカニズム的には一般レーンが満車の時はETCレーンにしか流れないようになっていて、仕組みを見てみると相当凝ったつくりになっていることが分かります。同時に走らせられるトミカの最大数は12〜13台でしょうか。輻輳（ふくそう）すると出口から排出されますので、料金所の先が渋滞する心配もありません。ただし（このドライブ系のシリーズ全般に言えるのですが）、やや動作音が大きいのと、転がりの良いトミカを選ぶ必要があるのが難点でしょうか。パッケージにもあるように背高車は転倒しやすく、キャタピラ車やバイクは当然走行不可。乗用車の中でも、転がりやすいものとそうでないものがあります。その辺は各自選んでもらう必要があると思います。

以前、山道ドライブを買ったのですが、走行性と運用性に課題がありました。
・走行性：半年ほどすると、路面のツヤがなくなり、頂上から下にスムーズにおりないことがありました。
・運用性：また、子供がもちあげると、支えの部分が外れ、組み立てなおすことが多くありました。
しかし、ETCドライブは、そうした課題をクリアしています。山道ドライブのような難しいカーブがないこともあり、スイスイ走ります。支えの部分も、はめると、カチッとはまる仕掛けに変わったので、持ち運びが楽になりました。２歳の息子も、４歳の娘も、けっこう遊んでいます。（山道のほうは、もう無視）ETCドライブは、おもちゃとして、より完成度が高まったと思います。
でも、騒音については解消されていません。うるさいです。おそらく家にあるおもちゃの中で最もうるさい。動かしている間の轟音には不快感を感じます。トミカさんには、なんとか企業努力で、騒音を減らす仕組みを実現してほしいと思っています。

高架の足にロックが着いたため山道や高速道路での不満点が改善されています。ただし、歯車の騒音は今まで通り、開梱作業やシール貼りは山道ドライブ以上に苦労します。面白い点は山道ドライブが得意だったトミカがETCは苦手だったり、その逆もあったり、今まで走れなかった手持ちのトミカが活躍できる場所かもしれません。
