速効性のある妖しさ抜群のサマーロックチューン。誰もが反応してしまうリズムと懐かしさも漂わせるメロディーラインにインパクトのある歌詞がクセになる名曲「Surfer King」。バンドがタフになり余裕も出てきて自己プロデュースの仕方も解ってきたのか、ここへきてこのシングルはかなり強烈だ。「サーファー気取りアメリカの彼 王様気取りのメメメメメリケン!(アメリカンってことか?)」の叫びからフフフフフ…と繰り返すサビは一度聴いたら気になってしょうがない。アルバムまで待つつもりだったのに結局買ってしまったもの。


フジファブリックは「茜色の夕日」など叙情感のあるポップな曲を造れるバンドである。じんわり染み込む曲も爽やかに流れる曲だって造れる。しかし彼らも、彼らのファンもそれだけで良しとはしない。
目に見えて異質なバンドや特定の路線を進むバンドとは違う至って正統派のロックだと言ってもいいのに、何食わぬ顔で妙な曲を奏でる。そのひっかかりがフジファブリックの独自性である。ファンはその通常攻撃にして一撃必殺な曲たちをまるで依存症のように求めてしまう。病み付きとはまさにこのことだ。
そしてこの曲はそんな人たちにとって最高のサマーアンセムとなるだろう。

　お店で視聴してみて「何だこの曲！すごくイイ！！」と思い購入しました。このシングルを聴くまでこのバンドは知らなかったのですが、すっかりファンになってしまいました。とにかく、一曲を通して浮き沈みの激しいサウンドになっています。途中ハワイアンぽくなったり、サビなんか「メメメメメリケーン！」ですよ！
　歌詞を聴くとジャケ写の意味が分かりますよ。何回聴いても飽きませんね。

東京スカパラダイスオーケストラのホーン隊とのコラボのこの曲。
いいですよー、これ。
思わず踊りだしてしまうほどノリノリなアッパーチューン。
夏っぽさ全快の中に、気持ち悪い歌詞にメロディに…
この楽しさ、怪しさ、かわいさ、フジファブリックの真髄です。

志村くんの「メメメメメリケーン!!」のとこ、大好きです。
あんなにも、か細いのに、どうしてこんな激しく気持ち悪く歌えるのでしょうか。
実は、フジファブリックって、夏の名曲多いですよね。
「虹」も「陽炎」も「NAGISAにて」も。
ほんま、夏フェスで聴いたら、たまらんー。

初回盤がいいですよ、PVもついてますので。
このPVがキモハデカッコイイ。
フジファブリックの監督といえば、スミス氏ですけど、こういうの得意ですよね。

ちなみに、このＰＶの撮影の合間に、志村くんは、
「はるかセブンティーン」を大人買いしたそうです。
