内容紹介

戦前の新潟の造り酒屋の盲目の娘“烈”とその家族の生きざまを描いた本作は名作の呼び声も高い。

ＮＨＫで放送されたドラマの待望のＤＶＤ化です。
映画ではかなりカットされた部分が丁寧に描かれています。

物語は主人公「烈」の母が大地主・田乃内家に嫁ぐ前から始まる。
「当家の嫁はやっぱり器量」と田乃内家の“おっかあさま”に見初められた“佐穂”。
しかし嫁とりの申し込みに行ってみれば、見初めていたのは姉の“賀穂”であった。
佐穂はもとから田乃内の跡取り・意造にあこがれていたものの、結局は賀穂が嫁ぐことに。

嫁いだ賀穂は死産をくりかえし、９人目にしてやっと育った娘・烈は幼くして目の病を患ってしまう。
烈の世話にと田乃内家に呼ばれた佐穂。賀穂の死後は後添えにと遺言を残されていたにも関わらず、意造は18才の芸者を後妻に迎える・・・

その後もいろいろ問題が起こるものの、烈の芯の強さ、佐穂のけなげな様には切なくなります。役者さんもすべてピッタリ役にはまってます。
また新潟の方言や酒造りの様子など、非常によく表現されています。
映像もキレイだし（北国のちょっと暗い雪景色もリアルです）音楽もいい。
映画版しか観てない人にもぜひ観ていただきたいです。

単刀直入に言います。最初から最後まで、感動しまくります。迷っている方は、騙されたと思って買ってみて！！！。我が家では、「大地の子」と同じく、永久保存対象ＤＶＤです。
