5.0 out of 5 stars 今夏(2007)のアタリアルバム(のうちのヒトツ), 2007/8/6
世間(ダンスシーン)ではデジロックが流行りみたいですが、ケミカルブラザーズの新作はデジロックやビッグビートと言うよりも、エレポップ又はテクノよりのアルバムです。今までのアルバムと比べて派手さや奇抜さも無く、良く言えばシンプル・悪く言えば地味なアルバムです。そぉ言えば悪いイメージにとられそぉですが、ボクはこの夏こればかり聴いてます。長く繰り返し聴ける良作デスよ。耳馴染みの良いフレーズにユニークな音色。もしかするとこのアルバムこそ二人の"素"なんじゃないのか、と勝手に深読みしたくなります。4曲目は野外フェスで鳥肌必須の「ボーンスリッピーbyアンダーワールド」系の曲で必聴ですヨ!余談ですけど、昨年のコールドカットやDJ SHADOWみたくベテラン勢が未だ頑張ってるととても嬉しいですね。

１曲目の息使いから何か異様な雰囲気ではじまり、２曲目は現代音楽のテリーライリーかと
思うぐらいきらびやかな反復で始まる。前作が違う側面を見せた分、散漫な感じがして個人的には
好きになれなかったがこのアルバムはジャケットからも分かるように宇宙、星空などを想起させる
コンセプトアルバムだと個人的には思いました。ケミカルのアルバムはいつもサイケデリックなど
言われ続かましたがこのアルバムこそもっともサイケでコズミックである。途中でTalking Heads
みたいな曲もあるよ

ケミカルブラザースの今までの作品って、聴いた瞬間に「ブレイクビーツ！」とか「ロック！」とか「ピコピコ音がカッコイイ」とか「アンログシンセがビキビキ鳴ってる」とか「キラキラしてる」とか「ヒップホップ！」といった具合に、ある種わかりやすい物だったと感じる。
しかし今回のアルバムは全体的に形容しがたいサウンドですね。
強いて言えばポップで音も柔らかい感じですが、コード進行やメロディがあえて王道をはずしたような、奇妙なテイストです。
