放映当初、いわゆるファーストガンダムファンの人達に酷評された作品ですが、個人的には良い作品だと思います。
でなければ、これほどの時間根強い人気を誇ることは無いとも思います。
ファーストシリーズに見られる人間ドラマ的な良い意味での泥臭さや、軍隊での政治的しがらみという部分の描写が減った事が酷評された理由だと思います。
しかし、戦争というガンダムの大きなテーマはきちんと描いているし、主役に軍隊の一員ではなくゲリラ、巻き込まれ型の天才ではなく最初から自分の意思で戦う人を持ってきたという意味で斬新だったと思います。
政治思想もはっきりと前面に押し出されていて、考えさせられる所も多いです。
女性向と悪し様にいわれることもありますが、ファーストシリーズはメインの男性には必ず複数の恋人位置的な女性がおり、なおかつそれを非難されることも無いという男性向けな作品ともいえますし、視点が変っただけかと思います。
妙に男性化されていない女性兵士が、きちんと考えを持って行動しているという点でも評価できると思います。

今まで、欲しくても高くて手がでなかったのですが、やっと手の届く価格になったと思います。

このWが女性に人気なのは、美少年が5人というだけでなく
強い女性しか出てこないということが要因ではないでしょうか？
すべての人が前向きで、行動しているということが気持ちいいです。
私は、ポジティブな気持ちになれるので、この作品が大好きです！名作だと思います！

賛否が真っ二つに分かれる作品ですね。
人の内面に訴えかける要素が大きいからこその結果だと思います。

婦女子向けだからと敬遠してる方も多いようですが、そうゆう要素もあるというだけで
中身はハードで重厚なストーリーです。実は熱血ものかもしれません？
特に世界規模で刻々と変化する情勢がスピーディに展開される様は見る者に暇を与えてくれません

問題はミュージカルを意識したといわれる
ヒロイン達のオーバーアクションな奇行を寛容できるか否かですねｗ

ＳＥＥＤからガンダムに入った方々が次に手にする作品としてもベストかと思いますよ？
