舞台は血・遺伝子の優劣によって全てが決定される近未来。子供は遺伝子操作によって、よりよい「才」を与えられて生まれてくるのが当たり前になっています。そんな世界で自然な形で生まれてきて「不適性者」とされる主人公ヴィンセントの生きる姿に見せられます。

どこか無機質な未来もよく表現されていましたし、舞台設定自体も興味深いですね。遺伝子操作という近い未来の現実的な問題とも見れますし、まさに今ある差別に置き換えてもいいでしょう。恵まれた「才」があるに超した事はないですが、それだけで到底計れない「より根源的な人間の意味・可能性」がよく焙り出されていて、ヒューマンドラマとして見るべきところは多いです。特にラストシーンにかけては圧倒的に力強く、切なくも美しさを感じました。ジュード・ロウの好演が印象的です。

マイナスは多少の端的さと冗長さを感じてしまった事ですが、それを踏まえても余りある傑作だと思います。

5.0 out of 5 stars SFXに頼らない、ストーリーで魅せるオーソドックスなSFの秀作!!!, 2008/2/9
特殊効果、アクションシーンが、殆ど出てこない、今時SFとしては珍しい映画。のっけから、ストーリーにグイグイ引っ張り込まれる、舞台演劇としても十分通用するだろう。(もう舞台で上演されているかも?)メインの三人のキャスティングもいい、ユマサーマンはキルビルと対局のキャラを演じていて興味深い。適度な“切なさ”が結構、心地よく 刺激的な場面も少ないので、夜、就寝前に鑑賞するのも悪くないと思う。購入しても、決して損はしないだろう。手元に置いておきたい秀作。

なんとも印象深い映画です。キャスティングも良かったです。
イーサン・ホークの不憫さ加減もヒシヒシと伝わってくるし、
この映画でのジュード・ロウは、美しくカッコ良すぎでタメ息もの。
ジュード・ロウの存在は、映画のトーンを大きく決定づけているように思います。
夢をみているように静かでスタイリッシュなサスペンス映画です。
