　内容の関連性がまったくないのに勝手に邦題を付け続けているため、いつ終了するかさっぱりわからない「沈黙の〜」シリーズの第１作にて最高傑作であり、スティ−ブン・セガールにとっても今までのところ最高傑作でしょう。敵役も大物トミー・リー・ジョーンズですし、たしかアメリカでも大ヒットしていたような記憶があります。（全米Ｎｏ．１にもなったことがあったような）
　アクション映画としては脚本がよく考えられており、次から次へと見せ場のつるべ打ちにして、ダレませんし、やはりセガールの肉体を使ったアクションは素晴らしい。いい意味でちょっとした暇つぶしに見るのに最適な映画で、私自身は年２回ぐらいみてますが飽きがこない娯楽映画の傑作です。

なんで沈黙シリーズになったのかよう分からん話ですが、映画自体は結構面白く楽しめます。トミー・リー・ジョーンズに注目し始めたのもこの映画がきっかけでした。エキセントリックな雰囲気が実に似合っていました。戦艦ミズーリ（降伏した日本にやってきた時の戦艦です。綺麗な姿の戦艦です。個人的には戦艦大和とミズーリが戦艦のデザインとしては双璧だと思ってます・・関係ない話ですが）を一応支配した時に、肉の塊をアーミー・ナイフで無造作に切っては部下に投げまくる仕草はもう普通の人でない雰囲気がムンムンで、アメリカ政府に向かって演説する姿もまた「もうあかんわ、完全にキレとる」という感じでいい味出してます。紅一点のエリカ・エレニアクも初めはアホなネーチャンという感じでしたが意外といい感じでした。その後もそこそこのスターになってますから。肝心のスーティーブは可もなく不可もなくマイペースというところでしょうか？全体としては○です。
