ヒッチコックの作品の中でも最高傑作のひとつに数えられている。

高さを演出させる特殊撮影の技術は、ユニバーサル・スタジオでも特撮のからくりでお馴染みですが、実際に高さの恐怖は観てる方でもハラハラしてきます。

この作品中でも、何度も尾行するシーンがでてくるが、何時尾行がバレルのかドキドキものでしたが、結局は初めから尾行されていたのがわかっていたのですね

それにしても、キム・ノヴァックの一人二役は私も気が付きませんでした。メイクに騙されました。

　まずこのDVDが貴重なのは、ものすごい手間をかけて修復された映像と音により、オリジナルのヒッチコックが意図したものに近いものを鑑賞できるということ。すべての作品に修復を施すことができなかったため、代表作である本作を始め数作しかこのクオリティは味わえない。

　往々にして、昔の作品を見るとテンポや緊張感が今の基準と比べてゆるゆるに感じることが多いが、この作品は違う。ストーリーが秀逸で編集が引き締まっている。前半と後半が、それぞれ光っていて実にすばらしい。

　伝説のキム・ノバクは、今も（整形？）セクシーで驚いた。本当は別の女優をキャスティングする予定だったらしいが、その女優さんが妊娠で使えなくなったための出演だったらしい。
　でもプラチナブロンドの神々しいまでの美しさと身のこなしを見ると、「氷の微笑」のシャロン・ストーンがここからかなり参考にしたのでは？と思った。
