もちろん、冗談のつもりなんでしょうが、
“攻撃、腐敗、持続、解放”
アルバムタイトルの直訳。

この手のジャンル好きでも、意味がわからない方もいるかもしれませんので一応説明しておきたかったのですが・・・
AttackDecaySustainReleaseはシンセサイザー用語です。
Attackで発音速度を決めて、発音が止まるReleaseポイントまで、DecayとSustainで音に角度をつけるって感じです。
これによって、ピアノからオーケストラのような音まで作れるということです。

電気グルーヴの曲に「アルペジ夫とオシ礼太」という曲がありますが、それに近いセンスだと思います。
つまり、まあシンセサイザー好きのつけたアルバムタイトルであり、音楽の内容と同じく特に意味は無い。それが、このアルバムですね。

ぼやけた感じのシンセの音、エフェクトのかけ方、音の取り方、全てが僕のツボにはまりました。これ見よがしのきらきらな音は食傷気味になるが、胃が痛くてもなお食べたいと思わせる魅惑的で盤石な曲は流石だ。
どこかで聞いたことあるような曲ばかりだが、後方で鳴らされるぼやけた音によってどこか違う雰囲気を感じる。どこかトランシーでディスコチック。八十年代後半といったところか。
あと、フジロック最高でした

クラクソンズやアークティック・モンキーズの新作を手掛けたプロデューサーが組んでい
るデュオのデビュー作、満を持しての登場！
なのだが、正直インパクトに薄い、と感じてしまった。

勝手な持論だが、ジャケットのアートワークに凝っていないアルバムには良作が少ない、
と僕は思っている（ダフト・パンクやメジャー移籍直後のR.E.M.など、もちろん例外もあり
ますが）。

だってこのジャケ、草っ原にアルバムタイトルのスペルどおりにスプーンを並べただけだ
もん。（ジャケに凝らないのは、CDを買わずに曲のみダウンロードする世代の台頭を象徴
しているのか？）

音の方も、唯一無二の個性を主張している、とまでには残念ながら行っていない、と思う。
MOBYやMYLOとかロイクソップ、M.I.A.などを初めて聴いたときのような衝撃も無い。

ただ、タワレコやHMVでもらえる特典ディスクのリミックスワークの内容は素晴らしい。
これを聴くと、かつてジャスティスにリミックスしてもらった楽曲が本人らの作品をさて
置いてブレイクしてしまったように、この人たちは他のアーティストに曲をいじってもら
った方が良いモノが出来るのでは、と考えてしまう。

デジタリズムは確かに良かったが、昨今騒がれている「ニュー・レイヴ・ムーブメント」も
ここに来ていまひとつ頭打ちになってきているのではないか、と思わせられる作品。
センスはなかなか。ただ個性がいまひとつ。次回作以降の巻き返しに期待。
