不思議だ。妙に掴み所がない。かといって強烈なインパクトで攻める訳でもない。だが、良い。それがこのアルバムを買うきっかけになった1曲目「Elevator」の感想。最初聞いた時は妙な浮遊感に少し惹かれただけだったが、静寂と轟音で交互に押して引くような曲展開や（特に間奏は意表を突かれる）、都会の夜景が段々と明けていくような繊細な歌詞に病み付きになった。


他の曲もボーカルの叫びがエモーショナルな「春と鉛」「in the sky」は1曲目と違ってインパクトが有るし、「ひかり」「チワワ」のような静かな曲も情景を映し出すようなメロディが美しい。


とっかかりを掴もうにもイマイチ知っているバンドに繋がらない。あえて挙げるならGRAPEVINEか。ボーカルの声は良いが、初聴の際に少し感じる頼りなさはGRAPEVINEの田中に似ていなくもない。そういえば歌いまわしも近い気がする。あちら程ではないが、曲もどちらかと言うと聞き込んだほうが味が出るタイプだ。でも幾分FoZZtoneの曲の方がポップだとは思うし、そもそも向かっている方向は微妙に違う気がする。別の方が書いているように、簡単に説明し難いのがこのバンドの特徴か。


そんなFoZZtoneだが、一つ挙げたい特徴はその独特の「都会感」だ。歌詞やメロディから浮かぶ情景は夜の都会、というよりほぼ東京。「Elevator」で浮かび上がる都会の夜景と自らの独特の距離感、「ひかり」の故郷から東京へ戻るひかり新幹線での情景。こういったモノをこのような形で描けるバンドは今の所無いだろう。私のように其処に魅力を感じる人も居るはずだ。



邦楽ギターロックが好きな方なら、基本的に抵抗の無いタイプのサウンドだと思うので、お勧め。今後どんな音を聞かせてくれるのか楽しみなバンドだ。

初めはNHKのラジオから流れた「エレベーター」で出会い、そこから気になり始めて数年、
今作「景色の都市」の「Elevator」で遂にCDを購入するまでに至った。
私にとって「Elevator」という曲は大きくなっていたのだ。

このバンド、説明するにはややこしいバンドで特に目立った特徴があるわけでもなし
かといってストレートなギターバンドでもない。こういうバンドが一番厄介なのだ。
敢えて例を挙げるとするならば本人たちも尊敬するGRAPEVINEあたりか？
個人的には90年末の良ロックバンドたちからの影響も垣間見れる。

このバンドを個性付けけてるのは「フック」だと思う。
一曲一曲に意味深な言葉を混ぜていたり引っかかるリフがあったりして面白い。
また、ボーカルの歌唱センスもとても良く、歌い回しも小気味いい。
極のふり幅も広く、いろんな意味で感銘を受けるミニアルバムだ。

というところでフル・アルバムも聴いてみたいところ。
こういうひねくれた部分を判りやすく出してくれるバンドって貴重だと思う。

メジャーデビュー第1弾目のこのミニアルバム。
はっきり言って、最高です。
前回のミニアルバムもよかったんですが、今回はいい意味で期待を裏切ってくれる、何回聴いても飽きない一枚となっています。
更に6曲全てが違う雰囲気の曲で、どれもFoZZtoneらしさが出ていて、とてもバラエティに富んだ内容になっていると思います。
これからも要チェックなFoZZtoneの世界に、あなたも浸ってみては?
