ユーライア・ヒープ、ディープ・パープルなど70年代のヴァーティゴ・レーベル系を彷彿とさせる、プログレッシヴ・ハード・ロック・サウンドを身上とするスウェーデン出身のニュー・バンド、ブラック・ボンゾ。Anthon Johansson(ベース)、Mike Israel(ドラムス&パーカッション)、Magnus Lindgren(ヴォーカル)、Joakim Karlsson(ギター)、NicklasAhlund(オルガン、ピアノ、メロトロン&シンセサイザー)の5人組で、サイケデリック・ロックンロール・バンド、ジプシー・サンズ・オブ・マジックのメンバーを中心に結成され、2003年頃よりライヴ活動を開始。2004年に1stアルバム『幻想の迷宮?ブラック・ボンゾ登場!』を本国スウェーデンでリリースしている。ハモンド・オルガン、ムーグ、メロトロンなど、ヴィンテージな機材をふんだんに使い、起伏に富んだ構成力あふれる楽曲も大きな個性としており、アネクドテンやフラワー・キングスなどをはじめスウェーデンのプログレ・シーンから様々なバンドが次々と登場している昨今だが、そのさらなる進化形と言えるのがこのブラック・ボンゾである。
