Highly anticipated 2007 debut album from the Britpop trio. Whats The Time Mr. Wolf? is a collection of tracks written and recorded over an 18-month period between London and LA. The Noisettes made a deliberate decision to keep their music stripped down and performance based. The songs are a reflection of their different musical moods and influences which are constantly changing and morphing. Rolling Stone tipped them in their coveted Top 10 for 2007 list. Plus they have also just finished a mammoth tour with the mighty Muse after being hand-picked as main to be main support on their recent UK and European dates. The Noisettes have been described by the NME as One of rock n rolls best kept secrets and by The Guardian as Britains best live band. 10 tracks.

黒人女性Shingai Shoniwaを核とするロンドンの3ピース、ノワゼッツのデビュー・フル。初期YYY'sばりの暴発的な熱量を迸らせる、パンク/ブルース/ガレージ混合のロックンロール。

のっけから矢継ぎ早に吐き出されるワーズでもって一気にレッドゾーンへ。Shingaiのヴォーカリゼーションが爆ぜる。暴発する姫君をサポートするDan Smithのギターワークは絶妙なスパイスとなり場を引き締め、しかし要所において70sロックを彷彿とさせる豪快なリフのインタールードにて空間を揺らす。

破天荒型パンキッシュ・サウンド一辺倒でなく、ブルージーなガレージサウンドを弾き出す"Scratch Your Name"、煌びやかな因子を掛け合わせ、センチな旋律を終局に向かって効果的に燃焼させていく"The Count Of MonteChrist"、畳み掛けるメロディの3段論法がかなり熱い"Sister Rosetta"における展開など、各楽曲の完成度・バランス感はかなり高いと思う。

こりゃすごい！

ロンドンから飛び出した３Ｐバンド「ノイゼッツ」。
なんと言ってもジンバブエ出身の女性ボーカル&ベース、シンギーの表現力に圧倒されます!

イギリスの音楽雑誌NMEでは[YEAH YEAH YEAHSに対するロンドンからの回答]
なんていかにも老舗の雑誌が書きそうなコピーで紹介されたようですが、

そんなもんじゃない!!

と、思います。

確かにガレージっぽいサウンドが中心ではありますが、ギターのフレーズにはハードロックが入ってるし、プログレのように目まぐるしく展開する曲もあるし、時折聴ける「こぶし」を効かせたソウルフルな歌声やアルバム終盤でのシンギーの声はまるでベテランのジャズ歌手のよう。

ホワイト・ストライプスあたりが好きな人も聴いて欲しい。

Summersonicでは最前列で観ることができました。
ステージ上で動く動く。ライブにも強いですね。
キャッチーな Don't Give Up が目立ちますが、他も聴かせてくれます。
次のアルバムでどう出るか、非常に興味があります。
