洋画なので、全編英語のせりです。明治時代の日本のアメリカ人記者、自らヤンキーと名乗っているから、アメリカの北軍側のクリストファーが、ある遊女しか存在しない島におとずれる。半年前に遊郭から買い上げる約束をした、小桃（美知枝）に会いに来たのだが、フリークな顔の女郎（工藤夕貴）から「小桃は首つり自殺した」ときかされるが、隠された真実がしだいに明らかになる・・・・・
　『殺し屋1』を完全に超えた残酷描写には、さすが目を背けちゃいましたけど、2度3度
と観ていくうちに、馴れてくるといふか中毒になりました。
アメリカでは放送禁止をくらった作品、洋画なので日本の映倫も通してないようですよ。
カルトホラーの金字塔。　発売禁止度200％ですな。

ストーリーは怖いという訳ではないが、拷問シーンが強烈！
ホラーが好きな私でも、目を背けたくなるシーンが多い。気分が悪くなる程、痛い！
軽い気持ちでは見ない方が良い。

日本の話なのに、英語。

結構原作に近い世界観が再現されてましたーつまりきょおてえ（怖い）ってことです。

そしてうわさの拷問シーン！そこで拷問のエキスパート針刺し婆ぁを演じてるのが原作者の岩井志麻子先生本人です。
不気味なメイク＆笑いで線香のたばをわきに押し当てたり(コヒもびっくり）長い針を爪の間や歯茎にキリキリさしこんでゆきます。見てるほうが痛い！！最高にいきいきしている志麻子ねーさん！完全にはまり役です！！
えげつなくてアメリカでは放送禁止になったのもわかるなぁ・・・

相当怖いけどどっちかというとやっぱり原作のほうが怖いかなと思いました。

まあそれより何より原作者が一番怖いです。志麻子ねーさん最恐！！！！！
