スーザン・サランドンとトミー・リー・ジョーンズの２人がいい味を出しています。さらに子役のブラッド・レンフローも上手いし、母親役のメアリー・ルイス・パーカーも今や大女優さんになってますが若い母親役を好演しています。ストーリーはいわゆる初期のグリシャム物です。名前を変えて別人として生活できることを保証する取引があることは小説で読んでいましたが、映画で見ると結構リアリティがあって面白いでした。子供の依頼人と中年の女性弁護人の駆け引きがなかなか見所で、心を開いていく過程がいい感じです。レッド・ツエッペリンのファンだと言ったら子供の気を引くための戯言だと言い返し、逆にレッド・ツエッペリンの４枚目のＬＰの名前はないかと聞き返す・・・ツエッペリンファンの僕にはにやりとしましたが、ちょっと少年の年を考えたら早過ぎるかなっと思いました。
