これはJunior Sweet以降の最高傑作。

最近のCHARAのアルバムは実験的というか、一曲一曲で聞けば悪くないのに、どうしても心の底から「いい！」って言えるアルバムが無かったように思う。
でも、本作は文句なし。打ち込みが無いわけじゃないけど、根底にあるしっかりした生の音と「CHARAそのもの」のボーカルがしっかり絡み合ってます。最高。

　あえて残酷な言い方をするならば、この作品はどう転んでもCharaの最高傑作にはなり得ない。誰がなんと言おうとCharaの全盛期は『Junior Sweet』（９７年）〜『STRANGE FRUITS』（９９年）期だし、もはや当時のあり得ないほどの普遍性は、彼女の才能が渇水したとかそういう問題ではなく、誰がどうやったってもう二度とほじくり出すことのできないものだと思っている。だからといって、全盛期はとっくの昔に過ぎ去ったし、これで９作目だし、もう好き勝手やっちゃってください、というわけには絶対にいかない。
　Charaが僕達に教えてくれたこと。それは、蜂蜜のように甘く粘着質な独特の歌声・唱法であり、現実性の欠落したドリーミーな作風の持つ無限の包容力であり、つまりはCharaという「世界」だった。今年の２月に発表された現時点での彼女の最新作であるこの作品は、エレクトロニカの多様というドラスティックな変化で音楽の振れ幅を大きく広げた意欲作だ。ピアノとストリングスのアレンジで聴かせる“FANTASY”がシンプルすぎて聴こえるぐらいに、本作では貪欲にエレクトロ・サウンドを取り入れている。音の情報量が急激に増したわけだが、楽曲を支える骨格は不思議なぐらいブレていない。Charaは、どれだけの月日が流れても、抱え込む情報がどんなに重くなっても、自分の「世界」だけにフォーカスを合わせて作品を作り上げることができる。新たなサウンドを加えることで作品を進化させ、それを持ち前の包容力で強く抱きしめて、彼女は「世界」を深化させる。この作品で改めて確認することのできた、全てを「世界」に引き込む彼女の集中力を信頼しているからこそ、僕はまた次の作品を楽しみにできる。「世界」の向こう側を、また覗いてみたくなるのだ。
