アル･スチュアートの４枚目のアルバム（72年２月発売）。過去に何度かＣＤ化されていますが、今回は米リイシュー専門レーベル、Collector's Choice からボーナス･トラック入りでのリリースです。「Year Of The Cat」でブレイクする前のアルバムの中では最も人気の高い作品で、まだ英国フォーク的な陰りを残しつつも、明快なポップさとアルらしい内省的な曲がバランスよく並べられたアルバムです。この後長くアルの片腕となるティム･レンウィック (g) やイエスのリック･ウェイクマン (key) 、ブリンズレー･シュワルツ (g)、ボブ･アンドリュース (or) などが参加、プロデューサーはプログレ関連を多く手掛けたジョン･アンソニー。リック･ウェイクマンの流麗なピアノが聴ける感傷的でプログレ的な人気曲 (4) はアンソニーの功績が大きいのではないでしょうか（今聴くと少々アレンジが大仰すぎる感じがしますが）。前作『Zero She Flies』でも聴かれたアルの素晴らしい生ギターのソロ演奏 (6) もストリングスを加えられたアレンジで華やか。全体的に色付けが豊かで、これまでのアルバムに比べると、サウンド的には本来のフォーク･シンガー的な面が少し薄らいでいるような気もしますが、歌詞はほとんどがこれまで通りの告白的な私小説風ラヴ･ソングで（ここでは失恋ソング）、ボブ･ディランのカヴァー (5) もピッタリはまっていますし、別れた恋人のことを赤裸々に歌う (7) や (8) では青さや甘さが残るナイーヴな感性のアルの魅力が全開です。その後はこういった告白的な歌詞はなくなっていくので、本作が一区切りということになるでしょう。内容的に初期アルの集大成と言っていい作品だと思います。『Love Chronicles』と共にぜひ聴いてもらいたいです。
ボーナス･トラックは、73年の『Past, Present & Future』収録曲のデモ (9)、本作からの先行シングル「News From Spain」のＢ面曲 (10)、80年代後期の録音でバディ･ホリーのカヴァー (11) となっています。

７２年発表の４作目。アラン・パーソンズのプロデュースによる後の作品が有名だが、それ以前の作品も素晴しいものが多い。この作品は軽めのカントリー・ロック的な曲も目立つものの、相変わらず美しいメロディを聞かせており、グラスゴー出身の名に恥じない仕上がりだと思う。
１．はカントリー・タッチの曲だが、アル特有の美しいメロディの生かされた曲。サビのメロディの展開は特に素晴しい。３．は後の『イヤー・オブ・ザ・キャット』に直結する曲。重圧なオケがついていないシンプルなアレンジもなかなか味わい深い。４．はプロコル・ハルムの２ｎｄ辺りを彷佛とさせるオルガンとピアノを生かした曲。バックには重圧なストリングスが付く。５．はポップなボブ・ディランって感じか？
１２弦ギターでブリンズリー・シュウォーツ、ピアノとオルガンでリック・ウェイクマン (一曲のみボブ・アンドリュースも参加) らが参加している。
