2007年春、桜ソングの名曲が誕生
ロングセールスを記録しているファースト・アルバム『Home』以来、約9ヶ月ぶりとなる待望の5thシングル。デビュー・シングル『HOME』が幼少期をすごした徳島のことを歌った曲とするなら、『サクラ色』は青春時代を過ごした第2のふるさとワシントンでの想いを綴った曲。挫折を繰り返しながらミュージシャンになる夢を追いかけた日々への想いを、ポトマック河畔の桜に託した歌。カップリングには、映画「犬神家の一族」イメージソングの『On & On』を収録し、さらにボーナストラックには『HOME』のピアノ弾き語りバージョンを収録している。12/26に行われた日本武道館初の単独ピアノ弾き語りライブも大感動のうちに幕を下ろし、2007年春には待望の全国ツアーを行うアンジェラ・アキ。春には日本全国に桜色の名曲を届けてくれる。

いや〜、アンジーの歌声はホント心に響きました！
今回も、すてきな、すてきな曲ばかり。
また大好きになりました。

「サクラ色」にはワシントンＤＣ時代のアンジーの色んな思いがたっぷり込められています。
「サクラ色」の桜ってワシントンの桜だったのですね。

コンサートでも「サクラ色」について、
「曲を書いている時に、思い出したくないこと、人を憎んだことが思い出されて、
まず、自分の気持ちを整理するのにすごく時間がかかった」と言われてました。

それがサクラ色の時代だったと感じられる時、人が成長した証なんですね。

私の場合も、みんなサクラ色になれば良いなあ（笑）。

「がんばって生きていこ、みんなすてきな思い出にするために」
そんな楽しい気持ちにさせてくれた一曲でした。

過日運転中にFMから流れてきたのがこの曲。その素晴しい声量と歌のウマさに「誰？！」と思いきや、アンジェラ・アキさんでした。2年前の曲である事も後から知った次第。
これだけの声量を持った女性ボーカルは久々。「ロックであるかどうか」などは関係なしにカルメン・マキ、金子マリ、大友裕子なんて凄いシンガーもいたが彼女らに匹敵する声量と、とにかく歌がウマいのには驚き。
割とロー・ティーンを対象にした楽曲が多いように思うが、歌詞がストレートに曲に乗る曲作りが出来る人。そしてそれをこの上手い歌唱と圧倒的な声量に乗せてダイレクトにリスナーの心に届ける事が出来る人。
今や日本では珍しい、正統派のシンガーとして一線で活躍し続ける事間違いなしでしょう。

どこか懐かしいメロディに、力強いピアノタッチ、澄みわたり広がる声が、まんべんなく
混じり合って、素晴らしい音の空間を創ってます。

サクラソングの代表曲がまたうまれました！！
