2007年3月31日ロードショー公開予定の新作劇場版アニメ「鉄人２８号白昼の残月」のオリジナル・サウンドトラック。
戦後を舞台にした新作アニメシリーズのスタッフが結集！世界観、設定も継承します。
”あの”実写映画版とは無関係なので、くれぐれもお間違えの無いように！！！
そして、映画音楽には、あの日本を代表する作曲家、『伊福部昭』氏の音楽を使用！！
氏は、ゴジラ、東宝特撮などだけでなく、日本映画音楽の始祖として有名ですが、残念ながら、昨年、故人となられましたので、生前作曲されたオーケストラ曲を使用するということです。
その起用のセンスに、最大値の期待度でリリースを待ちます。

収録されている曲名は以下のとおりで、映画で使用される伊福部氏のオーケストラ曲などを収録しています。
これらの曲の引用は、伊福部氏が、生前、今川泰宏監督の希望を承諾したもので、
氏が認めた最後のサウンドトラックといえます。

劇場で見てきました。予想以上の作品とのマッチングにびっくりしました。あたかも、この作品のために新規に書き起こしたんじゃないかというほど、物語の世界観にあっています。舞台が昭和30年代ということで、故伊福部先生の音楽が選ばれたのは必然だったのかもしれません。

伊福部氏の音楽というとゴジラを始めとする特撮物のサントラのイメージが強いが本作の劇中に流れる音楽を聴いていても何ら違和感が無い。伊福部作品のサントラはモノーラルが多いのでステレオ収録されている本作はそれだけでも購入する価値がある。伊福部音楽によってより本編が格調高く感じるのは気のせいでは無いと思う。
