内容紹介

ヨーロッパの各国を親善旅行中のある小国の王女アンがローマを訪れたとき、重なる固苦しい日程で王女は少々神経衰弱気味だった。侍医は王女に鎮静剤を飲ませたが、疲労のためかえって目が冴えて眠れなくなって、侍従がいないのをよいことに王女はひとりで街へ出て見る気になった。が、街を歩いているうちに薬がきいてきて広場のベンチで寝こんでしまった。そこへ通りかかったアメリカの新聞記者ジョー・ブラドリーは、彼女を王女とは知らず、助けおこして自分のアパートへ連れ帰った。翌朝、彼女が王女であることを知ったジョーは、これこそ特ダネ記事をものにするチャンスと思い、ローマ見物の案内役をひきうけた。アン王女はジョーの魂胆も知らず、まず床屋で髪を短く切らせ、1日中のびのびと遊び歩いた。ジョーの同僚のカメラマン、アーヴィングは、隠しもった小型カメラでぬけ目なく王女の行動をスナップした。一方、王女失踪で大使館は上を下への大騒ぎになっていた。

500円なので仕方がないかもしれませんが画質が悪いです。
家庭用のVHSデッキからHDDレコーダーにダビングしたような感じ。
デジタル・ニューマスター版は抜群に画質がいいので余計にそう感じます。

５００円のほうに手を出してしまいました。後悔してます。一番好きな映画なのに。
ちゃんともっと高い商品に敬意を評してお金を払うべきでした。
自分に星一つ。
作品はもう文句のつけようがないです。愛らしいアン王女。背筋がぴんっとしてて
男も惚れそうなジョー。お人よしの美容師さん、写真屋。
たった一日のランデブー。王女にとってはほんとに一生で一度の出来事だったんだろうな、
と想像すると、涙が出そうになります。自分の言葉で万感の思いをこめて、「ローマ」
と想い出の土地を語る王女に涙涙。
ＥＤのジョーの長歩きのシーンも余韻があって最高ですね。
それぞれのプライベートもすばらしい人たちばかりで、そっちにも妙に感動したりして。
お金貯まったら高い立派なローマの休日を手に入れます。
やっぱりそれが作品に対する礼儀かなって。

オードリー・ヘップバーンが、取り立てて演技力が優れている女優だとは思いませんが、本物の貴族出身の気品に加えて目を引き付けられる美しさ。貴族女性を演じながら下品さ底意地悪さを払拭できないタイタニックのヒロインとは月とスッポンです。あと、惜しむべくは素晴らしかった昔の日本語吹き替えがほしかった!前にTVでデジタルリマスター版が放送されるからと楽しみに録画したら、現代版吹き替えで耳を覆いたいほど酷く、最後まで見ていられず消してしまったのです。現在、ハリウッドではよほどネタ切れなのか、名画のリメイク版を次々出していますが、一つとして元のより良かった例しがないですね(笑)リメイク版も、新吹き替え版も絶対出してほしくない、モノトーンの名作です。
