内容紹介

3人の若い人妻が遊覧船でピクニックに出かけようとしていたところに、見知らぬ女からの手紙が届いた。文面には「あなたたちの夫の1人と駆け落ちします」と書いてあった。帰宅して調べようにも、船はすでに動き始めていた。3人のうち誰が犠牲者なのかは夕方に帰るまではわからない。また、3人とも夫に逃げられても仕方がない理由を持っていた。デボラは農家の出身で、名門の子息ブラッドと不釣合な結婚をしたことを肩身に狭く思っていた。リタは貧乏な教師のジョージと結婚したが、彼の収入では家計が苦しく、ラジオ・ドラマの脚本家として夫以上の収入を得ており、それが原因で最近夫婦仲は気まずくなっていた・・・。

リズ　テイラーの主演映画（去年の夏、突然に）や（クレオパトラ）を監督した事でも有名な一流映画監督ジョセフ　マンキーウィッツ氏が送る名作の登場です。
貧しい農家出身の娘で夫を夢中にした洗礼された気品と美貌ではあの女にかなわない、有能な脚本家でスポンサーに媚をうる毎日、夫の誕生日も忘れる、そんな無神経さを前にはあの女の社交性では到底、かなわない、野心から裕福な男と結婚、でも悪女ぶりでもあの女にはかなわない、３人の夫達を魅了して決して離さない絶世の美女アディから手紙が届く、その内容は３人の夫のうち誰かと駆け落ちをするというとんでもないもの、果たして彼女が奪ったのは誰の夫なのか？、実に興味深い作品、ラストもとても洒落た名作、お勧めです。

妻（Ｌ・ダーネル）が夫（Ｐ・ダグラス）に言います。

「この３年間　冗談でも”愛”の言葉がなかった」
「せめて　私を女として扱ってくれれば、、、」

男の僕は、このセリフが胸に突き刺さります。
僕は、このセリフを胸に突き刺したまま、生きて行くつもりです。

女が男を見捨てる今の時代に作るとしたら
「三人の夫への手紙」でしょう。
