1993年8月25日にファンハウス(現BMGファンハウス)よりシングル「僕の見たビートルズはTVの中」でデビューする。代表曲として「歩いて帰ろう」(フジテレビ系『ポンキッキーズ』)「歌うたいのバラッド」などがある。これまで1999年日本武道館にてワンマンライブ、そして2004年には弾き語りで日本武道館ライブを行っている。卓越したソングライティング・センスで多くのミュージシャンからも支持されている。

イントロで１００点を付けたくなるような気分だった。それだけで全てが正しいような気がしてきた。メロディ、歌詞、歌声。全部素晴らしいと思う。文句のつけようがない。でも、”素晴らしい”という表現で終らせたくないほど、熱いものがジワジワと胸の奥から込み上げてくる。

定番になって欲しい。もっとベタな曲になって欲しい。「秋桜」とか「乾杯」とか。そういう見方をされて欲しい。この曲を”知っている人は知ってる”で終らせてはいけない。みんなが共有すべき類の音を奏でているのだから。

これから結婚しようとする人は勿論ですが、長い間夫と過ごしすぎ「愛情」はいずこへ？という方々にも是非是非聴いてほしい一曲。自分もこんな気持ちのときがあったよなあ〜と思い起こさせてくれること間違いなし！ジット聴いていると涙が溢れます。彼の声と詩が、心の襞の隅々にいきわたる、しみとおる名曲です。

ライブで聴いて、「ああ、これはとてもいい歌だ」と思っていたので、発売が本当に待ち遠しかったです。
もともとがCM企画から始まった曲なので、珍しくサイトウさんが作詞をしていません。でも、一倉さんの歌詞が本当に素敵で、そこにサイトウさんのあたたかいメロディと歌声が乗って、やさしく沁みてくるような結婚ソングになっています。この歌のように、聴いていて気恥ずかしくならない結婚ソングというのは、あまりないんじゃないでしょうか。
ライブで歌ったとき、近くの席の男性3人が大泣きしていたことを思い出しました。私はファンなので、サイトウさんの歌は「いい」と人に薦めますが、おそらく特にファンでなかったとしても、この歌を聴いたら「いい」と感じたと思います。ぜひたくさんの人に聴いてほしいです。
