この手のジャンルでは早くも今年のNO1候補!リズムやメロディの扇状力、曲展開、曲によってはメロデスばりのアグレッション!最大の魅力は何と言ってもVOが素晴らしい前作しか所持してませんが急成長してます。グラマラスでセクシー!特にダークムーアも真っ青のクサメロ7曲目は悶絶必至!買いです(^^)v

スウェーデンのメロパワバンド、ドラゴンランドの4th。
壮大な雰囲気のイントロから始まる今作は、前作からあった大作志向が全面に出ており、アルバムを通してコンセプト的な聴き方をすべき作品となっている。
後半の14分のインスト組曲をはじめ、すでにメロパワというよりはシンフォニックメタルとしての方法論に近づいていて、ある種RHAPSODYにも通じるような雰囲気すら漂っている。
もちろん、もとからセンスのあったメロディアスな聴きやすさも健在なので、まったく難解さはない。
単なる疾走メロパワを求める向きにはややとっつきは悪いかもしれないが、クオリティの高さでは北欧勢の若手の中でもトップの位置に立ったという感もある。

スウェーデンが誇るメロディックメタルバンド、Dragonlandの4th。どうもレビューを見てみると疾走がほぼないと書いてあったので部屋で聴くのはやめることにした。ジャケットや題名を見るかぎり天文や天体の話らしいので考え抜いたすえ、飲み会の口実…ではなくてDragonlandのために友人と実際に夜空の下で聴いてみることにした笑。早速都内の山の頂上(快晴の日の夜)でラジカセとスピーカーを用意し聴いてみると…素晴らしい。満天の夜空に溶け込むようなサウンドが充満している。特に「Super Nova」「Cassiopeia」「Astronomy」あたりのミドル・テンポの曲の流れは最高だった!また「Contact」みたいな疾走曲やメロデスみたいな「Antimatter」やネオクラ曲「Beethoven's Nightmare」もしっかり存在感をあらわにしつつ流れに溶け込んでいた。そしてインストの「The Old House On The Hill~」シリーズも夜空の中、神秘的でメタリックな音像がとても冴え渡る。全体を通してボーカル、リフやギターソロもかなりうまくなっていて最高。やはりDragonlandは天才である。疾走少ない云々を気にしない人はすぐ気に入るだろう。ただ一つ問題は前作からの続きである「The Book Of Shadows」のパート4だ。これだけは唯一の捨て曲でこれ入れないで日本語曲のカバー入れてほしかった(X-Japanの紅とか)。ただボーナストラックも充実しているし、曲自体が全部素晴らしいので、スピードよりメロディック派の人(俺はどっちも好き)は絶対買おう。まず損はしないだろう。
