1979年の名盤です。ジャケットも一段と洗練されて、海辺にたたずむアンニュイな大人の女…といった感じで素敵です。内容もお洒落で、今でも古めかしさを感じないと思います。

私見ですが、もしかするとリアルタイムで聴いていた世代の人達よりも、いわゆる「渋谷系」世代に再消費されていた音楽かもしれません。「スタジオボイス」のウィスパーボイス特集でクロディーヌ・ロンジェなどと一緒にコモエスタ八重樫が紹介していたような…。ピチカートファイブの元祖といった形容がされていたような…そんな印象です。

しかし、時代もひと巡りして、そんな形容が陳腐に感じるようになった今、また聴き直してみると、いいモノはやっぱりいいですね〜。このアルバムの世界観が、ストレートに入ってきます。

チャイナタウン。まどろむ女。煙草のけむり。チェルシーホテルの夕べ。…

キュートなウィスパーもいいんですが、スローなバラードで時折見せる、ブルージーでエモーショナルな声が、アンニュイな大人の女の魅力全開です。素晴らしい。
