ジョン・アンダーソンのソロ3作目「アニメーション」が紙ジャケットで待望の世界初CD化!
イエスのヴォーカリスト、ジョン・アンダーソンが'82年にリリースした3作目のソロがようやくCD化。
イエスのヒット・アルバム「90125」がリリースされる前、ジョンがバンドから離れていた時期に製作された作品です。9分にも及ぶタイトル曲 Animation は、同時期に製作されていたヴァンゲリスとのコラボレーションによる「The Friends Of Mr. Cairo」と同傾向の映画音楽的なスケールの大きな作品となっています。
その他はワールドミュージックを取り入れた小曲集という構成で、中でも6曲目の Boundaries は後にイエスのアルバム「Open Your Eyes」収録の Somehow, Someday の原曲ということが判明。
今回初CD化にあたりシングルB面曲 Spider と10分を越えるアウトテイク音源 The Spell の2曲をボーナス収録。
盤は輸入盤を使用/シングル紙ジャケット/歌詞付き内袋/日本語帯・解説付

１９８２年リリースのソロ３作目、今回が世界初ＣＤ化・・・個人的には、中古アナログを随分探しまわった記憶があります（サイモンフィリップス参加と知って、笑）。帯タタキを引用すると：「７０年代クラシックイエスと８３年ロンリーハートで復活したモダーンイエスとを結びつけるキーポイントとなる重要作。」いかにも彼らしい（まあ声が唯一無二なんで！）内容ですが、曲によってはチャレンジ精神豊富な仕上がりになっています・・・１曲目「オリンピア」の煌びやかな音なんてのは、最高にカッコいい！（出来ればこの路線で、突っ走ってほしかったけど・・・）そのサウンドを担うメンバーは、デヴィッドサンシャス（Ｋｅｙ）・クレムクレムソン（Ｇ）・サイモンフィリップス（Ｄｒ）・ステファーノセリ（Ｂ）という強力なラインナップ・・・特にもデヴィッドサンシャスの活躍が素晴らしく、ＹＥＳを良くわかっていますね！！４曲目あたりでのソロなんてのは、これまた最高・・・アナログにはクレジットがあるそうで、クリスレインボウがコーラスで参加しているそうです。アディショナルミュージシャンのクレジットに、ジャックブルース・デイヴローソン・ジョンギブリン・モーリスパートなんて名が・・・参加してたの？おそらくコアな彼のファンであれば歓喜したであろうなのが、ボーナストラック１０曲目「ザ　スペル」・・・約１２分にわたる未発表組曲、ジョンが保管していたカセットテープからの収録だそう（私的には「うーん？」でしたが、笑）。私の大好きなサイモンは、タイトなドラミングを披露・・・１曲目なんてのは、本当はまってますね（笑）。見かけるうち購入しておきましょう・・・特に紙ジャケは（扱いづらいが）！
