はじめに悪かった点は初期不良があったこと。交換してもらいました。
なので星４つです。

けど、iriverのプレーヤーはSRS-WOWもついていて、音がとてもいいと思います。(以前は、iriverT10、sanyoDMP-700、iriverT10などを使っていました。)
高めイヤホン(sonyMDR-EX90SL)を使ったら音の違いがはっきりわかりました。

S10のいいところは、とにかく小さい、なのに画面が綺麗で大きいところです。
少し縦長画面になってるので曲選びがかなり楽です。
それから、買う前はあまり気にしていなかったD-ClickSystemは、かなり使いやすいです。
画面の上下左右をクリックする感じがちょっと快感で、ゲームの十字キーみたいに直感的に使えます。
以前使っていたのを操作すると、こんなに面倒だったかな、と思うくらいですね。

手持ちのデジタル化ファイルがWMAなのでiPodに移行する気が起こらず、いいプレイヤーを捜していて、このiriver S10に出会いました。
17gというのは驚異的な軽さで、2GBの容量で録音やFMチューナーも内蔵しているのは感動的です。音も十分で、SRS WOWで自分好みの設定を見つけてしまえば、ほとんどいじらずに聴けます(ただ、WOWを使うと電池のもちが悪くなるので悩むところ)。
問題と言えば、小さすぎるのでなくさないように気をつけないといけないことくらいですね。
付属のヘッドフォンの場合、フックがついていて外れないようになっているのですが、私のようにお気に入りのヘッドフォンで使う場合には、音が出ていないときにはちゃんとポケットに入っていることを確かめないと怖いです。
iriverの他機種に比べると、語学勉強モードなどが省略されていますが、このサイズですからシンプルな再生機で正解と思います。
とにかく軽く小さいプレイヤーを探している人にはオススメです。

●しばらく利用して、一点苦言を追加します。
本体自体がリモコンのようになっていて、上下左右にクリックする操作は面白いし快適なのですが、これが仇になって困る場面もあります。
標準のネックストラップなどでぶら下げて使う場合はいいのですが、ポケットに入れて使っていると、ひとりでにクリックされてしまうことが非常に多いです。
特に満員電車などに乗っていると、突然止まったり早送りされてしまいます。
標準のヘッドフォン以外だと、コネクタが抜けてしまう恐怖もありますから、ポケットに入れて使うことになりますが、かなり頻発するので頭を悩ませています。
(もちろんボタン・ホールド機能はありますが、ちょっと止めたり曲を飛ばすことが面倒になります。)
