3.0 out of 5 stars タブーな存在としての惣三郎, 2007/5/23
一般的な新選組の「幕府への忠義」や「活躍と滅亡」の映画を観たい人には的外れな作品です。監督は「新選組」という名を借りただけで、わかりやすく言えば「イギリスの全寮制の男子高」のような同性ばかりの閉鎖された世界で起こる出来事を描いています。惣三郎がいかにして周りの人間を「たぶらかす」のか、惣三郎一人の存在が隊の中で思わぬ驚異となっていく様をじっとりと描いています。監督が直感で決めたという惣三郎役の松田龍平さんを見ると、この監督の男を見る目がかなり「ゲイ寄り」なのではないかと思ってしまいます。国際的に有名な監督なので、この映画で「新選組とは男色の集団だった」と間違った解釈が広がらないといいけど…と心配になりました。ワダエミさんのデザインした「黒い新選組隊服」が非常にカッコよく、物々しい集団である新選組の色と、隊士の抱える惣三郎への邪な心を見事に具体化していて素晴らしいです。武田真治さん演じる沖田一人が妙に明るく無邪気なのが逆に怖い感じです。

　衣装、音楽、配役など全てにおいてバランスよく仕上がっており、1980年以後の大島渚の作品としては最も完成度が高い。個人的には「絞死刑」「少年」などが好きで「愛のコリーダ」以後の作品にはあまり乗れなかった。（評判になった「戦場のメリークリスマス」は音楽やたけしの演技がよかったとは思うが）
　この作品においては坂本龍一の音楽も押さえ気味で「戦メリ」ほど突出していないし、ワダエミの衣装も派手ではないがセンスを感じさせる。そしてキャストの充実ぶり。ビートたけしをはじめ、崔洋一、武田真治、浅野忠信、田口トモロヲ、的場浩司などの人気者に混じって新人の松田龍平が独特の存在感を出しているが、なんといってもトミーズ雅がよかった。
　この映画以後、大島渚はメガホンを撮っていない。ご本人の体調がどの程度なのかはわからないが、病から復帰しての作品がこれだけのボルテージを持っていることを考えると、大島ファンとしてはどうしても次回作を期待してしまう。

個人的にこの映画は私の中でＴＯＰを争うほど好きだ。
まず気にかかる問題として、ゲイ寄りな内容があるかどうか。
それははっきり言って「ある」と断言しよう。
それにより内容を「ゲイの映画」だ。ととるのか、
「狂気や謎に包まれている映画」と捕らえるのか。
私はこれを後者でとった。

さらにこの映画を見るに、多少の新撰組に対する知識を
持っておいたほうがいいと言っておこう。

ネタバレにならないよう、内容には触れないが、
個人的に「沖田」が、影の主役に私には考えられた。
