クリント・イーストウッドは音楽への造詣が深い。「パーフェクト・ワールド」で使われた曲はイーストウッド本人の秘蔵LPからの収録だし、今回は作曲まで手掛けている。俳優、脚本、作曲、監督までこなせる映画人はチャップリン以来だと思う。タイトルには息子のカイル・イーストウッドによるオリジナル曲、クラッシックやアメリカを代表する歌手のダイナ・ショア、スウィング・ジャズのアーティー・ショウ等が収録されており映画のサウンドトラックというよりアルバムとして聴き応えがある。戦争映画とは思えぬ物静かで優しいサウンドが心地よい。希望としては単体ではなく日米版をカップリングにし、豪華解説付きにで発売して欲しかった。

　このテーマ曲は、映画と対比して非常に物静かであり、それ故にインパクトがあります。「大脱走」等の戦争映画のテーマ曲と同様に、永遠に語り継がれるでありましょう。
　ただし、戦争映画のサントラの定めでしょうか、如何せんバリュエーションが少なく、購入には躊躇してしまいます。数年後の廉価版を待つか（「硫黄島からの手紙」とセットで発売されることを期待しています）、レンタルで代用の方がいいように思います。ちょっとセコイですか。
　でも、本当に名曲ですよ。映画をご覧になった方には同意していただけると思います。
