独身で、親の遺産を使って快適に一人で暮らしている38歳の男、ウィル。
そんな彼の生活にマーカスという少年が入り込んできた事から、自分の生活、人生までもが変わっていく･･･。

本当に自分勝手な男が主人公で、「駄目な奴」というよりも「ひどい奴」という印象が最初は強かったです。
人の気持ちは考えないし、まずシングル･マザーを”獲物”のような目線で見ている辺りは
女性側から見れば許せない奴でしょう･･･。ていうか、男側から見てもひどい奴ですが。

しかし、学校でいじめられ、片親の少年マーカスとひょんな所で出会ってからウィルは変わっていきます。
流石にすぐには良い奴にはなれないけれど、失敗を繰り返しつつ、間違いを犯しつつ、段々と”良い大人”へと変わっていきます。
いきなり良い奴に変わってしまうんじゃなく、少しずつ少しずつ変わっていくウィルが何処か愛らしく思えてくる。
最初は、ひどい奴だし女性の敵っぽいけど、徐々に観客を「頑張れ！ウィル」という気持ちにさせてくれる。
そこがこの映画の魅力だと思います。

なんていうか、本当に”人間くさい男”を演じているヒュー･グラントは凄いと思いました。
