吉祥寺にあるジャズ喫茶「ＭＥＧ」の店主、寺島靖国氏の選曲した２００６年度のジャズ・コンピレーション。
２００５年末〜２００６年に発売された国内外のジャズ・ディスクから選りすぐりの演奏がこのＣＤに凝縮されています。
長年ジャズを聴いてきた方にも、あまりジャズを聴いたことのないビギナーの方にも是非聴いてもらいたい一枚です。
難しいことは考えず、ジャズの音楽としての楽しさを体感できます！

ジャズ喫茶の親父にしてジャズ評論家の寺島靖国さんが選んだコンピレ盤。２００４，２００５に続いて２００６が出た。さすが寺島さんというか、旋律の美しい美曲ばかりである。ちょっと哀愁を含んだマイナー調の曲がお好きなようである。こんな盤を聴くと、コンピレ盤も悪くないな、と心から思う。ただし、２００６と銘打っていても、すべて２００６年発売のＣＤから選ばれたわけではない。ジャズの初心者も、そうとうのジャズ好きにも勧めたい一枚。（松本敏之）

アマポーラと言う曲が1番素晴らしい曲だと思う、何と言うかこの先50年くらいは廃れにくい音というか、優しさの中の美しさです。
アントニオカルロスジョビンとオスカーピーターソンとかのような甘さを感じつつ、しっかりとした分厚い演奏でピアノはかなり品が良い、ベースも落ち着いてる、ドラムは最後の方が良い感じに早くなって良い。

他の曲で具体的には、PETE SIERS,GRAG ABATE,IGNASI TERRAZAなどの曲は、十代の俺には臭さを感じるが友達には進めないけど、とても良い。

トリオは良いけどカルテットやとくにサックスが絡む曲の雰囲気が似かよってて何か好きになれない曲がある具体的に3曲くらいは臭すぎて今のところあまり聞いてませんが、今後評価が逆転する可能性はけして否めない。
