今までWindows 2000やWindows XP Professionalを使ってきた人がVistaに移る際に、Ultimateを選択する必要があるか？と悩む事があります。Ultimateは半年以上使っていますが、Business機能の範疇を超えて使っているケースがなく、少なくとも私の場合には、無理をしてUltimateを買わなくてもBusinessで十分であると考えられました。

また、このアップグレード版を使って新規インストールする事も可能で、その際には、Windows 2000のディスク等の古いOSのディスクを途中で挿入すれば良いだけです。マシンの中に旧OSがインストールされている必要は無く、しかも通常版よりはずっと安いので、このアップグレード版のコストパフォーマンスはすばらしいと思います。

メインマシンへの導入前に、サブマシンをXP ProfessionalからUpgradeしてみました。Panasonic CF-W2AW1AXS(メインメモリ512MB)です。
インストールするのに3〜4時間かかってしまいました。インストール後もスワップしまくりで非常に遅い。512MBのUSBメモリでReady Boostを設定して何とか使えるレベルになったかなというところです。正直、メインメモリが1GBはないときついでしょう。

とりあえずこのサブマシンでいろいろ様子を見るつもりです。メインマシンへの導入は当分見送りです。

VistaはＯＳ起動に１ＧＢのメモリを使用します。
その上で他のソフトを使用するには最低でも２ＧＢは必要です。
それが難しければ１ＧＢ＋αUSBメモリでReady Boostを設定でなんとか凌ぐほかありません。
もし、地デジが載っていて、テレビを見ながらソフトを動かすには、４ＧＢ必要とも言われています。今年の春モデルからは大手電機店で２ＧＢを積んだVistaが多く見られるようになりました。重いソフトをいくつも起動して作業をしなければ今のところ２ＧＢあれば大体の事はなんとかなります。１ＧＢでVistaをＯＳにされている方は早いうちにメモリ容量を上げるかUSBメモリでReady Boostを設定をしたほうがよいと思います。
メモリが少ないとバグりも頻繁にでますしね。
