ガイド1人が数人の子供(映画では7歳から13歳？）を連れてきます。
当然、中国からみれば非合法なので、そこをかいくぐっての出来事です。
十分とは言えない装備で、監視の目が行き届き難い冬にやってくることが多いため、
途中で死亡したり、 凍傷にかかって、手足や指を失う子供もいるようです。

月に500人もの子供が、今でも目立たないように、
このような少人数編成でヒマラヤを越えてくるそうです。

何故子供だけでと、多くの人は思うでしょうが、
教育は中国語で行われるため、チベット語、チベットの文化は
チベットで学ぶことが不可能になってるという事情があるのです。

チベットに生まれてチベット人として育って欲しいという
（いわばあたりまえの）願いが子供たちに向けられているのです。

チベット人として生きれるようにと、
2度と会うことができないというリスクを懸けて
親は幼子をヒマラヤの向こう側に送り出します。

チベットの未来を子供たちが引き継いでくれるようにと！
理解とサポートが必要です。

小学生の子どもと一緒に観ました。私は泣けて泣けて仕方ありませんでした。自分の息子と同じ歳の子どもたちが過酷な道をいくその映像はハンパではないショックです。でも最後にダラムサラに着いたときの子どもたちのコメントはひたすら感動的です。息子は途中、私に何度も「どうしてこんなつらい思いをしてまで山を越えなくてはいけないの？」とたずねてきました。でも、これがチベットの真実で現実。日本では報道されないことや教科書で学べないことを教えてくれるこの質の高いドキュメンタリーです。

ヒマラヤを越える子供たちのドキュメンタリーが流れるなり、子供が「お母さんに会いたい」と泣く場面から始まるのですが、その時点でこの子たちは家族に会えないんだなと悟り、映画やドラマではなく、壮絶な出来事が現実あるのかとショックを受けてしまいました。それでも亡命した子供たちはチベットの国民性なのかこんな幼い子でさえすべて現実を受けいれて明るく生きている姿に胸を打たれました。
