アニメ史に残るこの作品がなぜ今になって新録音の再編集版にされてしまったのか？
その答えはズバリ、音声の5.1ｃｈ化に対応させるため。
以前の音声マスターが見つからないので、セリフは全部録りなおす必要があったそうです。
従って今後６話分を全て録りなおさない限り、この商品だけが5.1ｃｈ対応の音響で聞ける
唯一の「トップをねらえ！」になります。

山場の多くが残ったとはいえ大幅に刈り込まれた物語、昔と遜色ない声を維持しながらも
台詞まわしや芝居のつけ方がどこか違って聞こえる声優さんの演技などを、5.1ｃｈ化の
代償として認められるかどうか。
このあたりが、旧作のファンがこの商品を受け入れられるかの判断基準になるでしょう。
私は旧作の声に慣れきっている一人なので、この新録音はちょっと悲しかったです。

一粒で何度も美味しいガイナックス商品の劇場版。疑似劇場サイズにはなっているが新作カットは０で、ユングをはじめ多くのエピソードがカットされている。元が名作なだけに何でわざわざブツ切り再編集版を作らなくてはならないのか？一粒を種まで絞り出すガイナックス商法以外の理由が見つからない。劇場版ガンダムのようにせめて新作カットを入れるとか、エピソードを膨らませるとか、、、ムリなら完全新作でユングの外伝作るとか、、何とかならないものだろうか？？劇場版で未来少年コナンを観たときも落胆したが同じようなものだった。

せっかく再編集するのでしたら、1話から5話を16:9にトリミングしたり最終話をカラー化するくらいの手間をかけて欲しかったです。
