イギリスの、プログレッシブ・ロック・バンドvan der graaf generatorの
リーダー、ピーター・ハミルの名盤が紙ジャケに。
彼は、日本では少し知名度が劣るが、ヨーロッパでは絶大な人気を誇り、同世代のヒーロー、ピーター・ガブリエルに対して、「もう一人のピーター」などと言われるくらいの知名度を誇る大御所である。
近年の作品では、神秘的な音作りで、激しい、彼独特のシャウトを織り交ぜた声は聞かれないが、今作では、随所で聞くことができる。
ロックかつ、哀愁漂う、彼の独特のセンスが本当に良く発揮されています。
どの曲も、強弱、緩急のつけ方が完璧で、ダイナミクスに富んだ壮大な楽曲が揃っています。
アレンジも凝っていて、様々な音が入れ替わり立ち代わり飽きずに何度聞いても楽しめます。
ジャケットが綺麗なので、紙ジャケ向きだと思います。
お勧めです。

74年リリースのソロ3作目。数多い彼の作品の中でもとりわけ絶望的な仕上がり。

初っ端「Modern」からもう救われない。とことんダーク且つ非現実的なサウンドの上で遊ぶ
これまたおよそ常人じゃない歌声。もうね恐いよ。全体的にそうだよ。
