トロピカリア・ムーヴメントの音楽的リーダーであり、40年近くに渡ってブラジル音楽界を牽引してきたジルの本質ともいうべき哲学観・宇宙感が繰り広げられる、全音楽ファン必聴の一枚。サンバ、ボサノヴァ、アフロ・バイーア、レゲエ、フォーク、ブルース…パフォーマーとしてのサウンド変遷と、コンポーザーとしての魅力が「声とギター」に凝縮された、キャリアに燦然と輝く傑作アルバム。

【アーティストについて】
1942年ブラジル・バイーア州生まれ。10代で耳にしたジョアン・ジルベルトの音楽に大きな衝撃を受ける。1967年、ファースト・アルバム『ロウヴァサォン』発表。1968年『トロピカリア』を発表、ブラジル各地の伝統音楽と、同時代の欧米のエッセンスを取り入れた同ムーヴメントにあって、リーダー的な役割を果たす。その後ロンドンへの政治亡命など様々なトピックをはさみながら、現在までに50枚近くの作品を発表。現在はブラジル文化大臣としての公務と並行して音楽活動を継続、第48回グラミー賞(2006年2月発表)ワールド・ミュージック部門ベスト・アルバムを受賞するなど、名実ともにブラジルを代表する文化人。

ブラジルの文化大臣でもあるシンガーが、自作を弾き語りで「淡々と」歌う。
このヒトの世界（訳詩を見ても）の歌を渋く、でも熱く歌う。
「このアルバムエエよ」と簡単には言えないんやけど、丁寧に感度を全開にして聴くと自分の感覚が、「新しい領域へ行けそうな」、「生まれ変われそうな」気がする。

この音楽に耳をすまそう。
少し気合必要。
