イタリアのプログレ・フォークバンド、サン・ジュストの1st。1973作
クラシカルなピアノ、アコースティックギターなどの素朴なカンタウトーレ風味と
前衛的な鋭さが同居したサウンドに、アラン・ソレンティの妹であるジェニーの美声が響く。
ジャケの雰囲気も合わさってOPUS AVANTRAにも通じる芸術性があり、
ジェニーの歌声も時にエキセントリックな狂気を垣間見せるが、
楽曲自体にはどこか牧歌的な聴きやすさがあり、決して難解ではない。
ミステリアスなRENAISSANCEという雰囲気もあり、繊細で素朴な音色を堪能できる。
イタリアの女性Voものとしては指折りの作品であると言えるだろう。

73年の1st。イタリアンロックの個性派アラン・ソレンティの妹、ジェーン・ソレンティ率いるプログレバンド。耽美、退廃、うつろで物憂げ、狂気の美の世界。フワフワしつつも、時に病的に乱れて暴走し始めるジェーンのボーカルはエキセントリック。ロック、クラシック、ジャズ、フォークが入り乱れ、現代音楽風味もあってアヴァンギャルド。暗いロマンを滲ますピアノと哀愁漂うサックスがステキ！バンド名はフランス革命でロベスピエールの片腕として恐怖政治に関わった美青年革命家の名前からとっている。
「この川が氾濫した時」は10分ほどの大作。不穏なピアノが冷たく響く冒頭。フォーク風になるとジェーンの歌声が可憐に舞う…が、どこか歪んでいる。奇妙な夢の中で少女が踊るよう。後半はダークで淀んだギターがうねりオルガンが響くが、暗いムードから徐々に解放感を増し、空高く消えていく。最後はピアノと歌に回帰。「目覚め」は個人的にかなり好きな曲。陰鬱な歌とアコギが響く冒頭。ピアノが跳ね始めると歌声は更に妖しくなり、ピアノと歪んだギターが絡む展開へ。しばらく邪悪な展開が続いた後、流れ出す悲しく悩ましげなピアノ…このコントラストが非常に美しい！更に、憂いに満ちたサックスソロが始まり、陶酔！思わずため息が出る。「甘美な時」は可愛らしいオルゴールのような音が印象的。「子供」はクラシカルな冒頭から朗らかなフォーク調に変化するが、サックスと男性ボーカルが暴れ出すと世界は歪みだし、ジェーンのコーラスも無邪気だがどこか病的。サックス中心にスリリングな展開となって向かう先、奇声が漂う終幕部はかなり変。「中庭に佇む悲しみの詩人」は中盤、頭が変になりそうなモノローグの後に、美しいピアノとベースが堂々と進み出す展開がドラマチック。「サン・ジュスト」は明るくメルヘン、どこか懐かしい音色。歌はフランス語。
