流してしまえばすっきりする、というのは涙そのもじゃなく、「泣くという生理」だ。ここで藤原基央が歌うのは、流した涙の研ぎ澄まされた理由や場面を、再び探す旅に出る物語だ。涙を擬人化したことで、直裁なインパクトは緩和されているけれど、感動だけじゃなく悔しさや悲しさ、あらゆる"涙のふるさと"を訪ねるというのは実はヘヴィ。なんともバンプらしい。c/wの「真っ赤な空を 見ただろうか」も疾走感以上にスムーズさを体感できるサウンドで、彼らがいかに思いを遠くまで投げれるようになったのか、バンドの成長を感じるシングルと言えるだろう。(石角友香)

アルバムをまだかまだかと待っていたら「会いに来た」NEWシングル。

トラックはロックな感じですが、そこに歌詞と歌声が乗ってくると
不思議な温かみを帯びて迫ってくるタイトル曲『涙のふるさと』。
リフレインを中心にした歌詞は、いつものような物語調でなくBUMPに
してはシンプルで、余分なモノが削ぎ落とされた結果でしょうか。
練りに練られて出来上がった飛びぬけて優等生な一曲という印象。
c/w『真っ赤な空を見ただろうか』も、テンポこそ早めではあれど、
根底に流れる温かみ、という点で一貫性を感じる背中合わせの二曲。

今回は隠しトラックも一曲として聴けるッ…と思ったらやっぱり
そこは隠しトラック、外すべきところはちゃんと外してきた（笑）。
トラックの関係上PCに取り込む時にめんどくさいのはやや難点かな。

総じて名曲か駄曲の二者択一を迫るような作品ではないけれども、
狙いすました普遍性が詰まった一枚でこれからの寒い季節にも最適。
そしてもう次は…新アルバムを期待しても良いのかな？待ってます。

歌詞は「涙の流れる理由」を象徴的な表現を交ぜながら書かれている。 サビのリフレインも手伝って一度耳にしたら思わず口ずさんでしまうような暖かい曲に仕上がってます。 この曲から新規のファンも増えそうですね。 それにしてもバンドの変化に否定的な意見が多いですが、変化は当たり前でしょう!初期アルバムから彼らも結構歳をとってますし人間なんだから変化は当然です。他のバンドだってこれだけのキャリアを重ねてればなにかしら必ず変化が起こってますよ。 初期からずっと同じなバンドなんて先が短いですよ。これまでのバンブの変化を「商業的」ではなく「成長」と感じたファンはこれから先もずっとファンでいるでしょう。受け入れられない方々はここまででしょう。 それにしても商業的ではありませんね。そうであれば中身のないシングルの乱発などの行動に走っているでしょう。 この曲は彼らが一年近くかけて作りあげ、基本は初期と変わらずミドルテンポのギターロックです!商業ポップスではない!

　最初に聞いたときは、失礼ですがなんて凡庸な曲なんだろう、
と思いました。期待しすぎていたというのもあるかもしれませんが。
しかし、やはりBump、じっくり聞くと良さがわかってきました。

　どちらも良曲ですが、私は「真っ赤な空をみただろうか」が
特に印象的でした。綺麗な夕焼けを見たときの、息を呑む感じ
が切実に伝わってきます。
