　岡本真夜は自然体である。思うに,自然体でいることが自然にできる人である。そしてまっすぐで,あいまいさのない,女性らしい歌を創り,歌う人である。
　早いものだ。デビューしてから,今年の五月十日で十二周年,干支が一巡りした。その長い間に,彼女の手になる,いろいろな作品がたくさんのアルバムに収録されてきた。本当に様々なジャンルの曲を作詞・作曲しているのだけれども,内面的には一貫して変わることなく,あたたかい心情で作品を創りつづけている。これは,大いに感謝するべきことである。なぜなら,いつの世にも,そのような歌こそが必須のものだからである。
　おそらく『Soul Love』は,胎動のアルバムであろう。いつもの彼女らしい部分もあるが,今までとは違う変化が見られ（それは聴いてのお楽しみである）,新旧の混在した不思議な魅力をたたえている。ここにおいて,彼女は自らの足跡を確認し,これから進み行く新しい方向性をしかと見出したに違いない。干支が一巡りした新生岡本真夜の明日-TOMORROW-を思うと,楽しくなってくる。
　このアルバムには,一編の友情物語と九編の恋愛物語が歌われている。不幸のどん底にあったり,幸福の絶頂にあったりと,それぞれの立場は違えど,どの主人公も誠実で,一生懸命である。聴き手は彼らの境遇に同情したり,共感したりして,声援を送らずにはいられない。このように,どの物語もついつい聴き込んでしまうのであるが,全曲を聴き終えた後に,聴き手の身に面白い現象が起こる。多かれ少なかれ,仕事や勉学などで誰もが疲れているものだが,聴き終えた後に自然と心が癒されて,元気をもらい,明日への希望をもらっているのである･･･。 　　　　　　　　　＊一言で表すならば,「妙なる調べ」のアルバムである＊

以前のように売れる音ではないけれど
彼女のメロディーと歌とメッセージが詰まっている…僕はそれだけで幸せです!
移り変わりの激しい業界の中でベテランがこういった一本芯の通った活動してくれていることに感謝ですよね。

エイベックスイオに移ってから、2枚目のアルバムです。前作が真夜さん最悪の出来でしたので、かなり期待していました。しかしながら、今回も「？」って言う感じの作品となってしまいました。このアルバムを購入した後に、満を持して真夜さんのベストＭＤを作ったのですが、「再会」と今回の「Ｓｏｕｌ　Ｌｏｖｅ」からは一曲も選出しませんでした。まぁ、そういう出来のアルバムと言えましょう。次回の作品がまた「？」な出来なら、僕は真夜さんを見限るかもしれません。真夜さん、どうしてしまったのですか？
