サウンド・エンジニア（音の魔術師）のアラン・パーソンとあまーい声のエリック・ウルフソンが中心のなんだかメンバーがはっきりしないグループのベスト版です。だからプロジェクトって言うのでしょうね。

内容は1976年「TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION」から1987年「GAUDI」までのベスト版です。1977年「I ROBOT」からのベストではありません。嬉しかったのは一番好きな曲の3-4.SEPARATE LIVESがRE-MIXされていることです。

いい曲です。
The Alan Parsons Projectの歴史が分かる３枚セットです。音の魔術師と言うよりは音職人ですね。興味がある人は購入してみてはいかがですか？？

アラン・パーソンズ自身のリマスターによる全１０作品が、２００７年３月から発売されるようです。
これまでのような単なるリマスターではなく、未発表音源をボーナストラックとしてどの作品にも収録し、
新たな解説書やインタビューも綴じ込んだ、これまでにない魅力的な再発になるとのこと。
ファンとしては、買わないわけにはいかないでしょう。
しかも、レーベルの違ったファーストアルバムも同じ企画として発売されるところが素晴らしいですね。
全１０タイトルが、３月、５月、７月に分けて発売とのことです。楽しみに待ちましょう！！
で、このベストアルバムは、その前ふりとでもいいますか、リマスターの良いとこどりの作品になってます。
特に未発表曲が１曲収録されているとのことで、買う価値ありますね。
また、ファーストアルバムからガウディまで選曲されており、数ある既発のベスト盤の中では最高の出来でしょう。
ただし、未発表曲がこれから発売のリマスター盤に収録される可能性もあるし、
何より国内盤でなく輸入盤なので、そのうち同内容の国内盤が発売されたりするかも知れないので、
★ひとつ減らしておきました。

＜追加レポート＞
オランダからの輸入盤が届き、早速聴いてみると、今回のリマスターで音が格段によくなってます！！
Luciferはオリジナルの出だしを短くしたシングルテイクが収録されています。
そして超目玉の未発表曲「No Answers Only Questions 」は、
アルバムAmmonia Avenue時のレコーディングのようで、
Ｅ・ウルフソンが歌うフォークソング風のなかなかイイ曲でした。
また、Separate Lives [Alternative Mix]は、これまた未発表テイクで、
原曲とは違ったアレンジでよりポップになった感じがしましたよ。
ファンならこの２曲を聴くために輸入盤であっても購入しましょう！！

早速購入しました。ブックレットはオランダ語なので、残念ながら読めません。ブックレットの内容はAlan ParsonsとEric Woolfsonのバイオグラフィー、発表シングル／アルバムのチャート最高位のデータ(オランダ、英国、米国)、過去のアルバムのジャケット写真、などです。なお歌詞はついてません(←輸入盤ではありがち、予想済)。
しかし、そういうマイナス面を補って余りある内容です。リマスタリングされた曲を聴くと、２０〜３０年前の楽曲とは思えない新鮮さがあります。ぜんぜん古臭くない！ これは高品質のヘッドホン／イアホンで聴くことをオススメします。私はSHURE E4CN-Jで聴いていますが、この臨場感はレビューの文章に出来ません！ Alan Parsonsの楽曲の奥深さがヒシヒシと伝わってきます。音の広がり方／mixの仕方がなんとも言えず気持ち良いです。70-80年代に何て先進的な音を求めていたんだろう、と今世紀になって改めて認識しました。"プログレ野郎"を自認する方には特にオススメかな(笑)。
来年(2007)からこのベスト盤のようにリマスタリングされたアルバムが順次発売されるそうなので、これは買いです。(^-^)
