　いい意味でも悪い意味でも７０年代の音楽シーンを彷彿とさせるアルバムで、発表当時、京都で学生生活を送った私にとってはＣＤ化を待ち望んでいました。トータルで見れば、テーマがとらえにくいかもしれませんが、「北山杉」と「大原の里」だけでも十分満足します。

「北山杉」は、1974年頃、当時の近畿放送（現ＫＢＳ京都）のラジオからよく流れていた曲です。レコードの発売は翌75年ですから30年以上前になりましたが。

♪四条通りをゆっくりと♪という始まりからして学生の街京都の良さが感じられます。当時のファッションの定番とも言える「ダッフルコート」で心をつかみ、「清水の石段」「大覚の白い石仏」というキーワードが京都の街の抒情を感じさせます。
♪青春色の　京都の町を　じっとじっと　見つめていました♪という泣かせるフレーズがたまりません。大学時代を京都で送られた方にとっては、当時もそして今も青春時代の思い出を彷彿とするような状況でしょうね。
曲はファーク・ソング特有の易しいコード進行で作られています。ハーモニーの付け方も素直で、多くの人がそのまま歌えるものです。その素朴な曲作りがまた愛された理由でしょうね。

同じように「大原の里」という当時のアンノン族の代表的な場所「大原」を歌にしています。失恋と旅と女心と大原、という連想ゲームのような曲ですが、内に秘めた哀しみを切々と歌った曲です。歌詞もいいですね。作詞者のタケ司馬緒は、当時の名馬タケシバオーをもじったあたりが時代を感じさせます。

この7人組のフォーク・グループの出身がハッキリしませんが、一説によりますと京都大学出身者とのこと。他に「むつごろう」「三社まつり」「長崎の雨の中で」「足摺岬」など、当時の旅のキャッチフレーズ「ディスカバージャパン」を思い出させるような全国の名所を歌にしています。
