「禁じられた遊び」や「聖少女領域」と言った、一連のローゼンメイデン主題歌をイメージしていた方には、
違和感を持たれる方が多いと思われます。
とにかく出だしの深淵さ、というより重さはこれまでと全くイメージが異なります。
それがBメロで倍、サビでさらに倍とテンポが上がって行くのでとにかく全体像がつかみづらい。

ところが何度も聴き込んで行くうちに、そのちょっとじれったい高揚感がクセになってくる。
そうすると複雑なメロディも耳になじんできて、今度は歌詞の内容が気になってくるという、
聴けば聴くほど味の出てくる曲です。

「禁じられた遊び」や「聖少女領域」に比べて「ローゼンメイデン」の世界観に合っていないという意見も
ちらほらありますが、そんなことは無いと思います。
比較するなら、前二作がアリスゲームそのもののイメージだったのに対し、
今回はアリスゲームに臨むドールたち、特に水銀燈の心境をイメージしているのだと感じました。

DVDの映像も賛否両論ありますが、曲の高揚感とは良く合っており、
むしろこの映像と合わせて聴くことで曲への理解度も深まるのではないかと思います。

最初に聴いた時はあまり良いとは思わなかったけど聴いているうちに良いなと思える歌です。全体的に今までの薔薇乙女の歌とは違う感じですがだから駄目かというとそんな事はありません。最初のうちははゆっくりとしているけどサビで盛り上がる歌で聴いていると水銀灯が浮かんでくる歌です。聴いて損は無いと思います。２曲目の極楽荊姫もいい歌ですこれも聴いて損はないと思います。私はこれを買ってから大分経つけど毎日のように聴いています。其れ位良い歌です。

まず歌詞を読み、今までのローゼンメイデンのOPより言葉が強く感じられたので、
「本当にあの曲調を合わせるのかしら…？」と疑問に思いつつ再生したところ、
曲の雰囲気も随分違っていたので、驚く反面「やはりそうか」とも思いました。
前２曲とは異なる作風ながらも、Aメロやサビ後半からは水銀燈の父への思慕を、
サビ前半の「これが愛か憎しみなのか答えは必要ですか」等からは姉妹達の闘い(殊に真紅と水銀燈)を連想しました。
あのアニメに合わないと言う意見の方も居られますが、
私は(特別編であるという事以前に)あの世界に深く繋がっている気が致します。
