の四名からなるMr.Misterの大ヒットセカンド。
かなりの遍歴を経ているので、絶妙なサウンドです。
とにかく、かなり普通なバンドです。
それなのに、超クールなサウンドを生み出します。
劇的な展開に、メロディアスな曲調を併せ持っています。
それを作り出すのが派手さは無いが、
安定感と曲を盛りたてる、いぶし銀のギターサウンド。
（ソロはきくとこ無いけど、プレイはかなりうまい）
ドラムスにもスゴテクは無いですが、
盛り立て方とリズムの刻み方はかなりの技術を感じます。
キーボードはしゃしゃり出てないのに、効果的に曲にアクセントをつけます。
ヴォーカルはかなり普通な中高音・・・
１９８５年は一品料理のような濃い濃いサウンドが流行しました、
その中で相対的なバランスで勝負した彼ら故の成功といえます。
まあ、何が彼らの凄さかというと遍歴ゆえの作曲、編曲センスですね。
とにかく聴いてみると劇的な展開を見せる曲と、
それを安定して叶える技術がお分かりいただけると思います。

お勧めはやはりシングル二つ。
「Broken wings」と「Kyrie」
前者はもう世紀を超えた名曲とでも言いますか、
今でも古臭くない曲で、クールでシンセ控えめ、
とにかく聴いてください。
後者はうってかわって８０年代だなあという感じの、
ポップな曲、澄んだ曲調と、アカペラフレーズをお楽しみください。
「BLACK/WHITE」は編曲のうまさを実感、まあ普通に聞いても良いかな？
「UNIFORM OF YOUTH」で、ギターやっと目立ちますね・・・
と続いて「WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD」まで。
かっこいい、ダサくて聴けないといわないで、密かに聞いてください。

　確か'85年。年間チャートトップ10に2曲(キリエ、ウェルカム・トゥ・ザ・リアル・ワールド)入ったのはこのグループのみだったと記憶しています。当時のツボを押さえた楽曲で、一気にファンをつかみましたが･･･
　
　最近になってまた聴いてみたくなり、今回購入しました。
　そういえば来日コンサートをFMで放送したのを録音したテープがどこかにあったはず･･･

'70s後期のAORブームに活動していたPAGESから、リーダーであるR.ペイジ(vo、b)とS.ジョージ(vo、key)が中心となって新たに結成されたMr.ミスター。本作は彼等にとっての2ndにあたり、1stの不振を吹き飛ばすかのようにヒットした一作('85年作)。
既にAORブームというものは過去の遺物ではあった'80s中期において、ツボを押えたシンセと適度にハードなギターを中心にR.ペイジのクリーンなvoを絡ませる手法は、[8]、[7](このイントロを聞くと、何時もラピュタを思い出してしまいます(^^;)に代表されるようなそのメロディセンスのよさも手伝って、AORの良さとポップロックの軽快さを併せた'80sならではの作品に仕上がったと思います。
ただ、"長続きはしなかなぁ"と個人的に思っていた通り、本作の後もアルバムを出したようですが、鳴かず飛ばずでした。'80sのよき思い出の一枚です(^^;
追伸：
R.ペイジやS.ジョージは、様々なアーティストのバックヴォーカリストとして今なお活躍しているようです。
