【アーティストについて】
78年渡米。LAの音楽学校で編曲を学ぶかたわら、数多くの一流ミュージシャンと共演。ホセ・フェリシアーノの全米・中南米ツアーにも参加。
86年帰国。スタジオ・プレイヤーとして数千曲に及ぶレコーディングに参加する一方、数多くのポップ・アーティストの編曲やプロデュースを手掛ける。サザンオールスターズ「TSUNAMI」(弦編曲)、浜崎あゆみ「Voyage」(編曲)は、それぞれレコード大賞を受賞。
またモンド・グロッソ、DJ KRUSH、MONDAY満ちる等のクラブ系アーティストや、須川展也、川井郁子等のクラシック系アーティストともコラボレートしている。
自身のオリジナルアルバムとしては、2000年にリリースしたピアノとストリングスによる「BLUE IN GREEN」が好評を博している。
映画、ドラマ、ミュージカルの作曲も多数あり、ミュージカル「フレディー」、「PURE LOVE」はそれぞれ東京芸術劇場優秀賞、読売演劇大賞優秀賞を受賞するなどジャンルを超えて幅広く活動している。夫人はミュージカル女優の島田歌穂。

やっぱりブルーノート系列モーションブルーヨコハマでも演奏できるくらいの実力者、島健さん、いろんなアーティストが参加していますが曲ごとに雰囲気が変化することなく、一定の旋律で昼でもまるで、夜のジャズ・バーへ来たかのようなムードをかもし出してくれるとっておきの１枚です！！夜のムードを出したい方、そうでなくても落ち着きたい時、BGMでかけても最高な１枚だと思います。ゲストも豪華で奥様も出演されているオススメの１枚です☆彡

島健が ”思いたっぷりに”選んだ曲を 交流のあったアーティストたちにリクエストし Sessionし 生まれたAlbumだ〜　面白いのは　”高音の のびやか美声”を封印された中島美嘉が Ron CarterのBass音と どうやって”Fever”を？〜　思い切りBluesy な ”Black Coffee”は”超重低音”の平原綾香Voiceによってどんな風に？〜　今井美樹 ”風” の”家においでよ”って？〜　矢野顕子の”Blackbird”は 何処へどこまで飛んで行くの？〜　強烈な沖縄リズム＆サウンドの ”りんけんバンド”の英詞の歌とは？〜　そして” DJ Krush”と”島健トリオ”とのSound Space Battleの行方は？〜　と興味は尽きない！〜　Jazzの”何でもあり”という自由さ 可能性 何よりも”楽しさワクワク感”がいっぱいのAlbumだ！〜

　このアルバムは島健さんのほうから呼びかけて、喜んで参加したアーティストたちのプレイが収められています。歌ってる本人たちが楽しんでるから聞くほうも楽しい。肩の力を抜いてリラックスして聞けるジャズです。
　
　不思議なのはこれだけの大御所を一度に集めて録音したわけではないだろうに、どの曲にも同じ雰囲気の楽しい空気が感じられる、まるでバーで聞いてるみたい（笑）。これが島健さんのえらいところ、自分から呼びかけた以上曲によって優劣がついてはいけないと努めて同じテイストになるように作ったんだな。私は成功してると思う、このテイストが好きならドップリ浸かってしまうでしょう。
