ピータージャクソン監督の3部作の第2部「二つの塔」のサントラ完全版がようやく発売になりました。第1部「旅の仲間」完全版にかなり満足していましたが、今回も期待通りの内容です。
内容・仕様は前回同様（下記参照）で、各曲は劇中使用順に配置。また、今回も劇中（SEE版）でのエオウィン（ミランダ・オットー）の歌も収録されており、本編を思いつつ素晴らしい音世界に引き込まれてしまいました。本シリーズの音楽がお好きな方で1枚物に満足行かない方には、絶対お勧めです。
「旅の仲間」完全版から「二つの塔」完全版まで、11ヶ月…。「王の帰還」は2007年クリスマス商戦時期でしょうね。それまで首を長くして待つ事にしましょう。

商品内容】48ページのブックレット。ハードカバーの本を模したケース。封入で本のように開くタイプの特殊デジパック風トレイにCD3枚を収納。Boxならではの扱いにくさを考慮して取出し用の紐があり、細かな造り。CD3枚に全曲を収録し、もう一枚のDVD-Audioに全曲を音声フォーマット違いで収録。48kHz/24bitで高音質のステレオとサラウンド、加えてDolby Digitalのステレオとサラウンド。高音質2種はDVD-Audioのみ再生可能ですが、Dolby Digital2種はDVD-Videoでも再生可能。（旅の仲間の仕様と同じ）　気になる点は、DVDの収納方法も「旅の仲間」の完全版と同じで、ボックスの蓋になる部分にDVDが取り付けられており、通常のトレイとは異なるため取扱いと保存が気になります。（自分はディスクの脱着が大変なので、ＣＤ用のセロファン等に入れて、ＣＤトレイのデジパックとブックレットの間に挟んで保存することにしました。）

1作目同様、SEE(スペシャル・エクステンディッド・エディション)のDVDの音楽が全て収録されている、というものですが、この「二つの塔」では、さらに映画・DVDでは使用されていなかった音楽がかなりの量収録されています。
完成したフィルムに合わせて変更されたり、カットされたりした音楽を聴けることで、ハワード・ショアが本来意図していた音楽を聴くことができるのも興味深いです。
また、戦闘シーンの音楽など、単純に映画では効果音が大きくてよく聞えなかった音楽をじっくりと聴くことができるも楽しいです。映画では聞えなかった音が色々と聞えて、「こんな楽器も使ってたんだ」と驚く曲もしばしばです。
