   91年10月、前回の不漁を挽回するために、1隻の漁船がマサチューセッツ州の港を出た。ところが、折悪しく大型ハリケーンが発生。観測史上例のない大嵐となる。だが漁船は漁を続けた。
   グロスターという漁港で起こった実話をもとに、SFXを駆使して映像化した海洋スペクタクル。監督は『Uボート』などのウォルフガング・ペーターゼン。序盤は海に生きる男たちの漁の模様を力強く描き、後半では空前の大嵐をリアルに盛りあげる。
   ジョージ・クルーニーとマイケル・ウォルバーグという『スリー・キングス』コンビが主役を演じ、ジョン・C・ライリー、ウィリアム・フィッチナーという芸達者が脇を固める。単なるSFXを売りものにしたアクションではなく、重量感たっぷりの人間ドラマである。（アルジオン北村）

カジキマグロ漁の船乗り達が無謀なことをしでかして遭難した、という実話（91年に）をもとにした映画。それ以上でも以下でもないシンプルな話ですが、私にはそれが妙に怖かったです。他のレビューワーの方が「ドキュメンタリー映画みたい」と書かれていますが、まさにその通り。不漁なら金にならず、船のオーナーからはプレッシャーがつねにかかり、魚は年々獲れなくなっていて。。。という鬱屈した状況で、めったに行くことのない漁場へ遠征して大漁に恵まれたら、ああいう行動にでてしまうかもしれないなとも思いました。CGのクオリティもとてもよい。余談ですが、この映画の舞台となったマサチューセッツ州グロースターには、映画に登場したパブCrows Nestが実在します（www.crowsnestgloucester.com）。

ビュービュー吹き荒れる嵐とずっと戦い続けるのかと思ったらそれとは違う。
ツイスターのように嵐を研究して克服するのとも違う。

嵐がなかなか来ないのでその間は退屈しましたが、来てからはすごいです。
そのときになって、自分たちの傲慢さがまちがいだったと気づくヒマもなく
がんがん嵐、波は襲ってきます。

最後の大津波は圧巻です！！うをををををををを！！となりました。

悲しい結末です。もう少し救いがあるラストだったらなあと思います。
余談ですが、見終わった後、
海のー砂をー握りーしめてーと、小学校の時に習った歌を思い出しました。
この映画とこの歌とてもあっています。

大漁であれば収入も多いが、不漁であれば食ってはいけない。そんな漁師たちの命がけの仕事をこの様な形で映画化したことはとても有意義である。北大西洋沖という日本からみれば地球の反対側で起こった実話を題材にしているが、アメリカ人はマグロを多くは食べませんので、日本人の胃袋に収まる為のマグロ漁の可能性が高い。今こうしているうちにも、世界中で映画のようなリスクの高いマグロ漁をしている漁師の方々に敬意を表したくなるとてもすばらしい作品でした。

最後、船長（ジョージ・クルーニ）が船ごと海中に沈んでいくシーンは、もう駄目かあ！と叫びたくなりました。あの『タイタニック』のディカプリオの最後を彷彿させるラストでした。

人間味豊かな港町とストームで荒れ狂う海の対比が何ともいえない気持ちにさせてくれました。

マグロ漁に携わる漁師の方々の大漁と無事を祈願しないわけにはいられない。
