やはりと言いますか、'80s初期から洋楽に入った身には、なかなかこの手のバンドにリーチするには時間が掛かります(致し方ないところではありますが)。それでも、楽曲がCMに起用される(はい、申し上げるまでもなく[10]ですね)等すれば、"あぁ、いい曲だなぁ。誰が歌っているのかなぁ?"というところから道が開けたりもします(^^; 閑話休題。
音楽的ベースにカントリーやブルーグラス等の所謂トラディショナルな音楽を保ちつつ、ロック的なアプローチ([2]等)もあれば、本当にホッとするような優しい曲もあり、一言の元に"ロック"と言ってしまうのが惜しい作品だと思います。
カントリー・ロックという言葉も勿論存在する訳ですが、なんと言いますか、そのカテゴリにドップリと入る訳でもないように感じます(それならイーグルスの1stの方がフィットすると思います)。
チャーリーおじさんが歌えば、テディもスキャット(?)で伴唱する(^^; まぁ、作られているとは言え、嫌味はないですよね。あざとさのない(?)古色のつけ方と言いますか、アメリカの良心という言葉がそのまま音に乗せられたと言いますか…。ジャケットから伝わる雰囲気そのものが音として流れ出す、そんな感じの作品('70年リリース)です。

でも他の曲も全部良いんです。
サザンロックやニューカントリーみたいな派手さはないんだけど
ルーツミュージックと言うかカントリー＆フォーク・ロックと言うか
聴いていてほっこりするアルバムです。

色褪せる事無く長く聴き続けられる名盤だと思います。
