　たった６枚のレコードを残して謎の死を遂げたビヴァリー・ケニー（ビクター盤ではベヴァリーとなっていて、検索しにくい）。これまではホテル火災に巻き込まれたと言うのが定説だったが、この作品のライナーノーツに真相が書かれている。そればかりか、彼女の私生活までもが明らかにされている。死後４０年以上も経っていると言うのに、良くも調べ上げたものだ。
　それはさておき、彼女のデビュー作である本作品は、彼女らしいハスキーかつ甘く優しい声が文句なしに素晴らしい。名手のギターとの絡みも良い。最高作は他にあるけど、五つ星以外に付けようがない。

　1955年録音の彼女のデビュー作。録音状態は良いです。彼女の舌っ足らずな歌い方がなんともチャーミングです。しかもノンヴィブラートなので、プロっぽくなく、隣のお姉さんが歌っているという印象を受けました。どことなくジューン・クリスティに似てると思ったのは私だけでしょうか･･･。
　私自身はもう少し本格派のジャズボーカルが好きなので星を減らしましたが、好きな人にはたまらないでしょう。当時彼女は23歳ですが、もっと長く生きて50歳くらいになっていたら、どんな歌を歌ったんでしょうね。
