美しいピアノのメロディにハスキー・ボイスが印象的、楽曲はどれも一度聴いたら忘れられないほど、キャッチー。どことなく、ブルー・アイド・ソウルな味わいにあふれている。
アルバムのプロデュースを手がけるのはエルヴィス・コステロ、シェリル・クロウ、ロス・ロボス、スザンヌ・ヴェガ、クラウデッド・ハウス、ポール・マッカートニーなど、多くのアーティストを手がけてきたミッチェル・フルーム。

【アーティストについて】
ダニエル・パウターは1971年カナダの小さな町ヴァーノン生まれ。音楽好きな両親のもとでヴァイオリンやピアノを習得、やがてヴァンクーヴァーに出て自らの音楽作りに専念するようになる。そこでパートナーのジェフ・ドーソンと作り上げたデモ・テープがきっかけでワーナーと契約、敏腕プロデューサー、ミッチェル・フルームを迎えて出来上がった作品がこのデビュー・アルバムとなる。

Bad Dayは非常によかった。
いうなれば3曲目に続くまでの1,2曲もすごく好きだった。
だけどその後は多少インパクトが落ちました。

誰もがBad Dayを聞きたくてこのアルバムを買った人は多いと思うけど、洋楽のアルバムにありがちな、
お目当ての曲はいいけどその他はちょっと･･･という印象はぬぐいきれませんでした。
ただそれでも全体的には高評価です。
全曲大好きになれるアルバムなんて早々ありませんし、何より全てを同じ調子の曲で占めるわけではなく、
色々な曲に挑戦している感じも受けたので今後への期待も含めることができました。

まだまだこれからいい曲をたくさん出してくれることを期待しています。

基本的に声とピアノだけで構成された非常に素朴な曲だが、
聞いていてとてもリラックスできる。
また、歌声だけでなく歌詞にも共感できるところが多く
インタビューの中で彼が語っていた「五年分の経験」が
しっかりと伝わってくる。

彼を「地味」と捕らえる人も居るかもしれないが
彼の歌はシンプルかつモダンなすばらしいものだと私は思う。

題名とは対照的にこの曲を聴いた後は、明日は何か良いことがあるような気にさせてくれる1曲です。映像（日本ではまだ発売されていませんが2006年4月現在）を見ると一層いいです。

This song makes you feel like you're going to have a wonderful day tomorrow after listening to it, contrary to the title "Bad Day". With its DVD, you sure will feel much better! This is a must!
