懐かしいのに、聞いたことがない歌ばかりの一枚。

日本限定販売のこのＣＤの収録曲は、
歌ってほしい曲をWEB上で行ったアンケートに基づいて決定したというだけあって、
多くの人がそのメロディーを口ずさめるであろう名曲ばかり。
それらの曲を大胆かつ巧みにポップロックにアレンジし、
懐かしい名曲の新たな一面を垣間見ることができます。

私が驚いたのは彼らの歌の自然さでした。
アメリカ出身の彼らが歌う「チェリー」の日本語に違和感を感じることは無く、
その自然さは曲本来の感動を存分に伝えるにとどまらず、
絶妙なビートがこの曲をさらなる高みへと持っていってくれるように感じます。
洋楽ではオリジナルのベリンダ・カーライルによる伸びやかな歌声とは完全に異なった、
躍動感あふれる「Heaven is a Place on Earth」が魅力的でした。

ただ「TSUNAMI」のあまりの豹変ぶりや、
「さくら」の英訳詞は完全に好みが分かれるところだと思います。
ＰＣや携帯で試聴できるサイトがいくつかあるので、
購入前にそれを聴いてみるのもいいでしょう。

これで2000円以下ならいい買いものだといえるでしょう。オススメ

おなじみJ-POPの名曲が、エライことになってます。
日本語も違和感なく、最初から最後まで自分たちのスタイルで突っ走ってるのが潔い。
新鮮さに感動するか、「違う！こんなんじゃない！！」とCDをフリスビーにしてしまうかは、アナタ次第。

私のお気に入りは、最後の「島人ぬ宝 」。海中を軽やかに泳いでるようなアレンジがニクイ。

Drive-Thru所属の4人組のアルバム。カッコイイ
自分は3rdアルバムの｢BEFORE THE BLACKOUT｣で知りました
(密かにMy bassにステッカー貼ってます)
前のアルバムはTHE BOOMの日本語カヴァーを演ってましたが
このアルバムは『スピッツ』の｢チェリー｣や『BEGIN』の｢島人ぬ宝｣をカバーしてます♪
バンド・サウンドはタイトでエモーショナルさがキャッチーに伝わってきます。
他には森山直太郎の｢さくら｣やMr.Bigまで…
一番気に入った曲は｢Heaven is a Place on Earth｣！いい！懐かしい。
