内容紹介

悪流通ゆえに日本では全く知られることがなかったものの、2年ぶりの2ndアルバム『A Plea En Vendredi』によって、Tamas Wellsはついにここ日本でも「発見」されることとなった。前作リリースから6ヶ月後、彼は地域医療の仕事でミャンマーに移住、そこで本作のメロディーを書いた。さらに数ヶ月後、メルボルンに戻り、バンド・メンバーとともにレコーディング。その時レコーディングされたマテリアルは数時間分にも渡ったが、そこから厳選され、余分なものが削り落とされた結果、11曲のシンプルな名曲が残った。アコースティック・ギターとピアノを中心とした、とてもバンドサウンドとは思えない、シンプルでアコースティックなサウンドは、その潔い美しさゆえに、その天賦の歌声を引き立てる。Tamas Wellsの歌声は、「ニック・ドレイク・ミーツ・シガー・ロス」と地元のプレスで評されるが、むしろ「天国に一番近い音」と言われるシガー・ロスの歌よりもさらに純潔だ。2曲目の名曲「Valder Fields」を聴けば分かるように、Tamas Wellsの音楽は、この世のものではないような極上の美しさと、その裏側に底抜けの悲しみを湛える。本当に素晴らしい歌は人を操る。現実と非現実のはざまを行き来し、まるで三途の川を渡る疑似体験のようですらある、特別な聴取体験を約束する、歴史的名盤の誕生。

優しくて哀しくて、素敵な音楽です。ライヴで聴いたりしたら死ぬだろうな。
ボーカルは好みが別れるタイプですが、
この音楽にはこのボーカル以外有り得ない感じです。
#2が突出してるものの、アルバムとしての統一感は失われていません。
33分と気軽に聴ける長さなのも良いですね。

お気に入りのCafeで流れていて、すごく気に入り、店員さんに教えてもらって買いましたが、本っ当に買ってよかった♪邪魔にならない流れるようなメロディが心地よくて、でもちょっぴり切ない感じもして…。一人旅で、電車やバスに揺られながら聴きたい一枚です♪のどかであたたかい景色とピッタリ☆
